Teaneck NJ, on Monday, February 10, 2025, at approximately 10:52 a.m., Teaneck Police officers arrested Mr. Ross Daniels-Lynn of Teaneck, after discovering he was in possession of an illegal firearm during a routine motor vehicle stop on Cedar Lane.

Officer James Zwerling, a 3-year veteran of the department, initiated the traffic stop after observing several motor vehicle violations including fictitious plates, windshield obstruction, and failure to remove snow/ice from the vehicle. The vehicle was operated by Mr. RossDaniels-Lynn and occupied by one passenger. During the stop, officers discovered the vehicle was not registered or insured. The passenger claimed the vehicle was just purchased through a private sale and acknowledged that the registration plate belonged to a different vehicle.
Mr. Daniels-Lynn, was unable to provide identification and was directed by Officers to exit the vehicle. Upon exiting, Mr. Daniels-Lynn was observed placing his hand in his sweatshirt pocket and was ordered to remove it. Officer Zwerling then observed a bulge in Mr. Daniels-Lynn’s sweatshirt pocket. Officer Zwerling began patting down Mr. DanielsLynn for weapons and discovered he was in possession of a loaded handgun. The firearm was determined to be a SCCY CPX-2 9-millimeter handgun containing a magazine that was loaded with eight rounds, including four (4) hollow point bullets. The handgun was seized, and Mr. Daniels-Lynn was taken into custody without incident. A subsequent check of the firearm’s serial number revealed that it was stolen.
The arrest of Mr. Daniels-Lynn highlights the importance of “routine” traffic stops in keeping our community safe. The men and women of the Teaneck Police Department are committed to enforcing laws that keep illegal firearms off the streets and will continue to work diligently to prevent violence in our community.
