Ridgewood NJ, Is the Ridgewood Village Council listening to its neighbors, or just the music? Residents of the Schedler neighborhood are calling last night a “slap in the face” after not a single member of the Village Council attended the high-stakes Zabriskie-Schedler Property Soil Remediation Community Meeting.

A Neighborhood Left in the Dark

The meeting, intended to address critical soil remediation efforts at the historic Schedler property, was met with frustration from the start. Residents who showed up to discuss the environmental safety of their neighborhood were met with an empty row of Council seats.

Adding fuel to the fire, reports from those in attendance indicate a tense atmosphere. The Village Manager was reportedly seen interrupting and berating a resident who attempted to ask questions, labeling their concerns as “off-topic.”

The “Bareburger” Conflict: Priorities Under Fire

While the Schedler neighborhood discussed soil safety, where was the leadership? At the exact same time—6:30 PM—Mayor Paul Vagianos was reportedly at Bareburger delivering a presentation regarding the proposed Ridgewood Performing Arts Center. The split in attendance has residents asking a pointed question: Does the Council prioritize new entertainment projects over the immediate environmental concerns of existing taxpayers?

“You Get What You Voted For”

The sentiment among Schedler advocates is clear: there is a perceived lack of accountability in the current administration. With zero council representation at a vital neighborhood meeting, many feel the “adult decisions” need to happen at the ballot box.

As the Village continues to navigate major developments—from the Schedler property to the Performing Arts Center—the gap between the Council’s agenda and the residents’ needs appears to be widening.

    1. I don’t know about a plaque, but the dumb-ass people in this town who keep voting for these grifters and morons are definitely going to pay for the Asbestos clean-up in that theater.

  7. All plans from this council are on need to know bases and according to them we don’t need to know

  8. Apparently, Vagianos is busy doing a lot more that just fundraising for a new PAC center. This post is trending #metooRW https://www.facebook.com/share/18YGG5LSvz/?mibextid=wwXIfr

  9. Of course the taxpayers are going to pay for everything, I blame all the top brass for all the shit that’s been going on in the past three years. The village is in one big fucking mess. How much money are they in debt? and they are facing major lawsuits, coming real soon. Look at the investigation turned up.

  10. We can’t afford a performing arts center and the last thing we need is more traffic. END that project.

  12. Why would any individual put thumbs down on regarding who’s receiving the bid to remove the toxic contaminated soil, and where is it going. You must be one of the biggest assholes walking around. I would love to know who you are. You must be a piece of shit the public demands, and will find out who is holding the material, and exactly. Where is it being transported to. And if you got a problem with that, you just let me know maybe you would like to meet in village Hall , anytime I’ll put your tail between your legs.

  13. I want to address several false and defamatory comments regarding Paul Vagianos that were recently posted on several social media accounts. My phone was stolen and these comments were made without my knowledge or consent. I deeply regret any harm or offense this incident may have caused. I sincerely apologize to Paul and to anyone else who was impacted by what was shared. I have since secured my phone and am removing all defamatory comments that I’m aware of. Thank you for your understanding.
