Mahwah NJ, the Sheraton Crossroads is set to permanently close its doors this Thursday, according to announcements on hotel websites.

In preparation for the closure of the 36-year-old hotel, General Manager Sam Kapadia has discreetly extended invitations to local officials for a final cocktail and appetizer farewell gathering on Monday, as revealed by Mahwah Mayor James Wysocki.

Requests for comment from Kapadia have not received an immediate response, leaving uncertainty regarding whether a demolition date has been finalized.

In September, the hotel issued a 90-day notice to the state, signaling its intention to lay off 91 employees by December 15. This action was taken in compliance with the Department of Labor & Workforce Development’s requirement for notifications in cases of layoffs exceeding 50 employees. However, at that time, it remained unclear whether the hotel’s closure was part of the plan.

  1. Here comes more housing, more commercial, use, more traffic. What should go there is the state of the art trucking stop like they have out west. We need to get these truckers off to 87 and 287 Route 17 and put them in a safe spot, they should not be resting on the side of the road. New Jersey needs to get their shit together recording the safety of truckers.

  2. Seems like the Ford Plant just closed…What will become of Dead Man’s Curve Hot Rod Weekend?

    1. It was announced that Dead Man’s Curve will be held at the Woodcliff Lake Hilton next year.

  3. I read that it (the hotel), will be replaced by one million sq ft of warehouse space. No mention of all the other acreage surrounding the hotel.
Does that sound like Amazon to anyone? Just guessing.
