Ridgewood NJ, on Thursday the Village of Ridgewood 2022 Christmas tree was delivered to the central business district in Ridgewood . The tree arrived just before the long overdue paving starts on Franklin Avenue . Ridgewood puts up a fresh tree for Christmas every year  . The yearly tradition is for a donated tree to be cut down and delivered to the Village . The reality is that the donors get a much needed free tree removal and the Village gets a beautiful tree for the holiday season. Downs Tree service cuts the tree down and brings it into town .

Pine trees are native to most locations within the Northern Hemisphere and give many regions green scenery and rich natural habitats. While pine trees are some of the oldest on Earth at over 200 million years old, they are not the fastest. Pine trees grow very fast , most pine trees grow roughly one to two feet per year, although some breeds of pine trees grow more quickly than this.

It may shock you to learn that some pine trees can live to be over 1,000 years old with one of the oldest living pines actually aged about 4,800 years old. However in urban areas where people cut down a lot of trees or have poor soil conditions, to begin with, the Italian stone pine will tend to live only 50 years. The Pinus virginiana or “Virginia Pine” has one of the shortest lifespans of all the pine trees. The Virginia Pine only grows to a max height of about 60 feet with a typical lifespan between 65-90 years. The Virginia Pine tree is a best-seller on Christmas tree farms!

  1. Lets hope the donor doesn’t get dinged $500 by the town for a permit to cut down a tree

  2. Are they actually calling it a “Christmas Tree” ?
Heads are gonna roll for this mistake.

  3. I know they’ll be calling it a holiday tree,

  4. We donated the tree. We didn’t get dinged $500. Downs was great and helped us out with a couple other things. It was a nice tree but right next to the driveway. A lot of stuff to clean up. We’ll plant another tree. 🙂 Merry Christmas!

    1. thank you , Merry Christmas !
