Summer is finally here! And with so many of us having been stuck inside during the Covid-19 Pandemic, we all want to make the absolute most of this Summer! With global temperatures rising, it is looking like it could be the hottest Summer on record and it is absolutely vital that you stay cool. One of the absolute best ways to remain cool whilst still having fun this summer is with water activities. There are a huge number of fantastic water activities that you can enjoy with your friends and family. It doesn’t matter if you are on vacation at the beach, hanging out with your friends at a river or lake, or just having fun in your backyard, so there are so many great water activities for you all to enjoy.

So pop on your bathing suit, rub in that waterproof sunscreen and let’s get started with our top 6 water activities to keep you cool this summer.

1. Have a Go at Jet Skiing

If you or someone amongst your family and friends is an absolute speed freak then jet skiing is a fantastic choice of water activity. Jet skis are a bit like water motorbikes and can get up to speeds as high as 70mph. As well as these speeds, jet skis are incredibly maneuverable in the water and so you can really have a great time turning sharply and bouncing over the waves. There are age limitations on who is allowed to operate a jet ski, but if you have children with you then it is no problem! They can either ride on the back of a parent’s jet ski or an experienced jet ski from the company you rented from can take them on the back.

2. Stand Up Paddle Boarding

Stand Up Paddle Boarding, or SUP boarding for short, has become an extremely popular water activity in recent years. Far removed from the breakneck speeds of jet skiing, SUP boarding provides a relaxed way to spend some time on the water. SUP boards are extremely buoyant and stable and there are even inflatable options which enable users to simply stand up and move themselves along with a paddle. SUP boarding can be done on lakes or on calm rivers and oceans. These days, SUP Board Yoga has become an increasingly hot trend and is an amazingly peaceful way to practice yoga whilst enjoying the gentle flow and sound of the water.

3. Take a Ride on a Banana Boat

This is another water activity for the adrenaline junkies out there. Banana boats are long banana shaped inflatables that fit up to six people on them at the same time. The banana boat is then pulled along at rapid speeds by a speed boat and when the boat driver makes a quick turn, the banana boat skids and bounces over the wake which occasionally throws the riders off. It may sound a little dangerous but everybody has to wear a life jacket to protect themselves. Just make sure that you rent the banana boat from a reputable company to guarantee that they are taking all necessary safety precautions.

4. Race Across an Inflatable Obstacle Course

These obstacle courses are so much fun and you can usually find them at every major beach and lake resort. They are an awesome way to spend time with your family and friends and to challenge each other to see who is the fastest. Different inflatable obstacle courses have different elements which makes each one a unique challenge. There are obstacle courses with rolling bridges, steep water slides, strength testing monkey bars and even ones with big jump offs for the really brave at heart.

Because the obstacle course and everyone using it is all wet, it adds an extra fun challenge as it can be so easy to slip off whilst racing each other. You will find that you not only have a really great time, but that you are also quite out of breath, as inflatable obstacle courses are great exercise too. Another great thing about inflatable obstacle courses is that they are suitable for the whole family because they usually incorporate a separate child’s section that is a little easier for the younger members of your group.

Staying cool this summer can be the most fun challenge ever! It doesn’t matter if you are a family of adrenaline junkies or you like the quieter things in life, there are so many fantastic water activities that you can try. If you and your friends or family are looking to find a great water activity to try out together, give the suggestions in this article a go!
