Newark NJ, a United Airlines flight was forced to make an emergency landing at Newark Liberty International Airport on Tuesday morning, February 25, after pilots detected a mechanical issue.
Flight 1544 Returns to Newark After Mechanical Issue
United Flight 1544 departed from Newark at 6 a.m., bound for Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas. However, approximately one hour into the flight, the pilots noticed a mechanical problem and made the decision to return to Newark, according to Port Authority officials.
The aircraft carried 176 passengers and six crew members. A United Airlines spokesperson confirmed that the plane landed safely and all passengers deplaned normally at the gate. The airline arranged an alternate aircraft to transport customers to Las Vegas.
Third Emergency Landing at Newark in Recent Weeks
This marks the third emergency landing of a United Airlines flight at Newark in just over a month. Previous incidents occurred on January 18 and January 25, raising concerns among travelers.
