A financial donor is willing to contribute and fund the production of Ridgewood’s updated emergency preparedness guide, but the Village Council will likely decline the monetary offer.

The council’s decision, which was discussed Wednesday night, was made simply because of the timing and the potential donor: The Valley Hospital.

Earlier this week, hospital officials filed a Ridgewood Planning Board application to expand its current 570,000-square-foot facility to 910,000 square feet.

The scope of the proposal is smaller when compared with the hospital’s original 1.2-million-square foot Renewal plan, which was rejected by Village Council in 2011. Despite the scaled down plan, residents who opposed the first Renewal are already arguing that the reduction was not large enough.
