Allendale NJ, Veolia Water New Jersey is wrapping up the latest phase of its extensive project to replace lead service water lines throughout the borough.

Since July 29, Veolia has been hard at work on Elmwood Avenue, Mallinson Street, and Crescent Place. The company expects to complete the line replacements on Crescent Place and George Street by Thursday and Park Avenue by Friday.

This work is part of a $159 million multi-municipality effort that has already seen over 12,000 lines replaced. Whenever lead lines are detected, Veolia replaces them at no cost to the customer.

“The scale of this lead service line project is one of the many reasons Allendale made a positive choice in selling our water system to Veolia,” said Councilwoman Liz Homan. “Veolia has also installed necessary temporary in Allendale,” she added, referring to per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, also known as forever chemicals.

Veolia provides water to nearly 900,000 residents in Bergen and Hudson counties and serves 1.1 million people across New Jersey.
