Ridgewood NJ, Wednesday nights council meeting agenda includes a resolution to approve a plan for Schedler Park following a very contentious work session in which Village Engineer Chris Rutishauser presented three options to the governing body. Each plan had a slightly different orientation of a full-size athletic field, which historic preservation consultant Peter Primavera advised waiting to approve until he had a chance to review the history and responses to prior requests from the state.
Just watch…just like the garage it will ultimately go unused. It will be too loud to hear coaches, umpires, refs. It will smell and taste like exhaust. But 4 of the 5 council members made promises so another pointless, expensive project will move fwd. why not let residents vote on this. It will give them back the ability to vote that was taken away by one council person
Take a ride up and down Route 17, the Parkway, etc. There are fields all along the highways. Games will be played. There is also a college (FDU) baseball field right along Route 4. Doesn’t seem to stop games from being played.
Yep they said the garage would be full too.
TBH, and although I always knew that garage was a mistake, nobody predicted a pandemic that would last for years and change many people’s way of working.
Keep drinking the koolaid
Thanks for the update Mr Mayor
Wow, they are really going to do it.
At least Lorraine will vote ‘no’ so it’ll be 4-1.
Trenton is where the battle will be won or lost, not Ridgewood.
You need to use the historic designation to stop overdevelopment, not the items in your flier.
Based upon what I have seen so far, the Schedler crowd has a very poor strategy.
Sports team are potentially funding this project. The sports teams in town are non profit charitable organizations. Fees/donations are received by small businesses and residents who register their kids to play RBSA baseball and softball, Maroons Soccer, etc. Has every family/participant approved their donation to be reallocated to this project?
Ask for your money back!
Hope to see everyone later. VC are adopting the Green Amendment and PFAS remediation today. At the same time, VC will approve the Schedler Plan to decimate land-add PFAS-and strip an entire neighborhood of their right to a clean, safe and healthy environment. Not to mention displace wildlife, threatened and endangered species.

we have no mow May to help the environment but lets cut down trees on a 7 acre parcel. can’t make this up.
Big letter “H” belongs on the front of their shirts. Disgusting.

O ye who capitulated to the demands of sports maniacs: WE HATE YOU.
Why hire a so-called expert if you ignore his first recommendation?
I would be surprised if the state approved this mess. With how quickly the four assholes are moving on this, I can’t wait to see what they have cooked up next.
Can you say 100 units of assisted living downtown? Up next will be the proposed zoning change so Kensington can make all that happen.
You get the government you deserve.
Baseball participation is down 35% from 10 years ago.
This is Field Envy, plain and simple.
How can the RBSA have so much extra money to help fund the field?
Can someone (intelligent) please explain to me *why* Peter Primavera is still involved in this process?
The man has absolutely no credentials and it’s fairly obvious that he’s being paid (out of our tax dollars!) to ram through someone’s pet agenda…
Lorraine said during the April 12 meeting that Primavera was known for being able to get anything he wanted through the state historic commission. But according to people she spoke to there, that is not so.
Another big story being missed is the taxpayer subsidy of Vagianos business interests and the pedestrian plaza. The only reason the proposed furloughs aren’t happening is because there was no staff left to do the Friday pedestrian plaza setup for the pestrian plaza to work. Furlough Fridays meant no pedestrain plaza.
Now Ridgewood taxpayers will be paying interest on some salaries moved from operations to capital. Seriously. We are now bonding salaries. Someone call Trenton to stop the fleecing of Ridgewood taxpayers.
Where’s Evan Weitz, self-proclaimed financial whiz with all his bs campaign promises.
Stop the madness.
Weitz is just a yes vote. Complete empty seat
So The A$$ Clown and his 3 puppets have taken away All Overtime from the Village employees, which means the CBD will have to be set up during the day on Friday, and taken down during the day on Monday , funny how that works in his favor.
Screw the over time. Oh well. Let the police and fire Worry about it.
No more overtime so get used to it. worry about using your vacation time. The village doesn’t care about you. Don’t put ridgewood first. Family first, ridgewood last. Don’t be a fool!
Who cares I would set up on a Friday and take them down on Monday, look at me times some of you fools rush back from vacation to get two hours overtime on a Sunday please. What a joke. Talk about cheap. Come on windmill boys.
No more overtime, no more stipends, no, more , no more no more no more it’s over. Time to save money.
the police ,fire ,emergency services put out all the barricades in town. That’s all screw it. Less to worry about. Who cares, who needs it.don’t care about it anymore.don’t call me, I don’t see it from my home. The new police commander is taking over the d p w any way. Can’t wait. A political powers have a new view.
Thumbs up,
Can we walk the picket line outside his diner..?
That place is not worthy of the noble word “diner.”
Paul and JJ swore all the costs for the pedestrian plaza are paid for by the businesses so who cares if it’s over time.
Hey, at least there’s no furloughs, the employees should be thinking the mayor and council
