  1. Mango Jam…essential business?

  2. Some businesses’ brick and mortar stores are not actually open. There are signs on the doors, and on their social media, that say they are taking orders online and will deliver goods. Maybe a better title for this list, which is NOT comprehensive, would be “Businesses still conducting business, whether live or virtually” but that’s a bit cumbersome, don’t you think? And perhaps you may want to consider not calling people out on such inconsequential details at a time like this. Said respectfully.

  3. MacMurphys is open too!

  4. Macmurphys is open too!

  5. Sook Pastry is Open curbside

  6. Mr.Moo’s ice cream is open near king’s market.

  7. Mr. Moo’s is open for curbside pickup. It’s listed as it isn’t open.

  9. Pretty sure Tito’s Burrito is doing curbside or delivery. Saw someone going in to pick up today.
Ridgewood shoe repair is not open.
Leonard Anthony cleaners is open because they work with police / 1st responders to clean uniforms.
I was in touch by email and phone with Bookends to find a selection of books to ship to my parents who normally get their reading materials from their local library.
I personally don’t have an issue that businesses are trying to live to see another day, and adjusting the way they operate to contactless type activities. This may come as a surprise to some, but the supposed help from the government for small businesses is nice in concept but very complicated to make actionable if you are in their shoes.

  10. Everybody learn to cook. It will make you more useful on earth.

  12. It’s just as well there are take-out places open in Ridgewood as people don’t cook at home, despite the high-end kitchens.

  13. I’m a lousy cook, mostly due to learned helplessness; I do my part for my family in other ways and our division of labor works. My kids actually like to cook (middle school / elementary school age). People, teach your kids to cook it is the best thing ever. They feel creative and validated. You just have to resist the temptation to hover and then focus on what you want them to do rather than nag on what went wrong or act like they will combust if they touch a paring knife. E.g., teach them about clean up as they go along rather than freak out that they made a mess. Don’t complain that they make simple foods. It is an investment of time like anything else.

  14. I make macaroni and cheese.
