Several of the pictured signs were observed on lawns in front of private residences on Ridgewood’s East Side early this morning, including the Mayor’s home on Linwood Avenue and the Deputy Mayor’s home on Cottage Place.
Although the First Amendment of the United States Constitution protects a property owner’s right to display such signs, is it appropriate for both the Mayor and Deputy Mayor to be displaying their respective support for the garage not knowing 1) what the final price tag is, 2) what the design will be, nor 3) how the garage will be funded? Â In short, they both have little if any factual data about the project, but yet they support it? Â Duh?
Additionally, what taxpayer funded resources, if any, were used to design, print, and/or distribute these signs? Â The Mayor mentioned during a recent public meeting how pleased he was that promotional material in support of the referendum was being developed (perhaps an inappropriate comment for an official meeting); did the Village’s contribution to the endeavor stop there, or is there more?
They have zero idea how much taxpayers will be on the hook for this pie in the sky project, but they’re happy to be riding the train out of the station. Â ALL ABOARD!
What about the third stooge?
What part of 3 votes beats 2 votes every day of the week do you not understand?
Someone is coming to the downtown stores to get them to post signs as well.
Rich, the mayor is moving and they are not. Every politician desires one thing, re-election. Those two will NEVER be re-elected if housing goes through.
What they don’t say are the costs. I doubt people would vote against parking, they are voting against paying.
Long over due. Buckle up kids, the garage is coming.
The picture of a high rise building on these signs says it all. It will be a GIANT BEHEMOTH that will block sunlight and you will have to look straight up to see if it is cloudy or sunny. There will be no sunny side of the street over there. And there will be added congestion, idling cars, it is all horrible.
As of 6 PM, no signs on lawn of Stooge # 3 nor the Village Manager. Will check back later in the week with my drone.
If you notice Paul Vagianos election signs are displayed next to the parking garage signs on some residents property.
So lets connect the dots.
Yes Rich its true in most cases but with this Capital Expense it take 4 votes. I guess you missed that in the fine print.
Remember to vote no on parking garage, it has not even been approved and the cost is escalating.
The signs are on the lawns of a couple of other stooges, or should I say schills, namely RH and JG. Surprise, surprise.
DO NOT BE HOODWINKED; READ THIS: Despite what proponents of the parking garage say & write, there will be virtually ZERO NET GAIN IN THE TOTAL NUMBER OF PARKING SPACES. How could this be you ask? Because, by approving the construction of high density housing in the Central Business District, all commuter parking spaces at the old Brogan Cadillac site get wiped out. Furthermore, there are no provisions in any of the high density housing ordinances that would require a developer to construct additional parking for use by the public. To repeat, there will be ZERO NET GAIN IN THE TOTAL NUMBER OF PARKING SPACES. Don’t be hoodwinked. Vote “NO” on the parking referendum unless you like having your property taxes jacked up needlessly.
If I vote ‘yes’ do I get a pctg of Paulie’s receipts from It’s Greek to Me…?
Isn’t that what this is all about ??
I have never had a problem finding a parking spot in town — no matter what day or time it is. Is the problem that people want to park directly in front of the store they are going to?
To me, this is a waste of my tax dollars
where can I get one of those signs? I’d like to place it on my front lawn with a big slash through it!!!!
I’ve lived in Ridgewood 27 years and I’ve never had to walk a block or two to where ever it is that I wanted to go. No more than a few minutes to find parking. This whole thing is ridiculous.
Just so we’re completely TRANSPARENT about factors driving the garage project, Paul Vagianos, President of the Ridgewood Chamber of Commerce, owns & operates a restaurant located within 1 block of the proposed garage AND owns a commercial building located immediately next to the proposed garage. Mr. Vagianos is currently running for State Assembly in the 40th District. The vote yes for parking signs are generally accompanied by signs supporting Mr. Vagianos’ candidacy.
All you need to do is get two council members to vote against the bond. Do that and it dies in its tracks.
The dumb signs make it look like south waldwick
Notice the Poster has a high tower walk up sign for which direction our TAXES WILL BE HEADING DUE THIS BOONDOGGLE, That being Up UP AND UP. This project will be a scandal.NJT will likely have to take it over and turn it into a slum section ..go to any town with these monsters..
It’s a neighborhood air quality Euespre and also a traffic Killer.
