  1. So a 2% tax increase without even getting a contract in place with the REA… What a joke. Just because there is is 2% cap doesn’t mean you have to raise 2% a year… $102 MILLION, so where does the extra $2mn go without a contract? To teacher health benefits?

  2. The BoE should cut their budget by 2%, not spend $102mm

  3. When are you people going to put a stop to this nonsense?
    WHEN?
102 MILLION DOLLARS? Are you out of your minds???
you can bitch and moan all you want about garages and hospitals and over paid and benefited village cops/fire/dpw but in the mean time this crap goes right under your noses. ONE HUNDRED AND TWO MILLION DOLLARS.
    Absolutely absurd.

  4. And for a once higher rated school system that has gone south for the last 25 yrs. Just add that to the other things mentioned by 3:13. So why would you not rent here instead of own ?

  5. why would you not rent here instead of own ?
Why would you live here at all?

  6. Had to leave after a job loss … didn’t want to go as we loved the town but it just became impossible. Teachers just don’t get it … once they are tenured they never have the uncertainty that so many in the private sector face. They always seem to forget that most of the taxpayers except for educators work a full year – no summers off, several weeks off during the school year, snow days when the weather is inclement. Really, when you figure out what they earn per diem with a pension and decent health care it’s a pretty good deal.

  7. 5:59- Well, that’s become a very good question. One thing that seems to be working with a lot of folks is renting for four years to get the high schoolers through and then ” get out of Dodge.” It has always been somewhat of a more “transient” town than most anyway, but it seems to have gotten worse. Not good in the long run.

  8. 7:49 – how much of the 102 Million goes to teachers and where does the rest go?

  9. Full Day Kindergarten people. Vote accordingly. Do you really want to fund this?

  10. 10:25pm are they presenting two budgets – one with Full Day KG and one without Full Day KG?

  11. a lot of it goes towards the Administrator salaries – many of whom are not even needed – never used to have an asst ba at 95 thou….

  12. 7:44am I don’t know the answer to that. I do know that implementing full day KG will most definitely cause our taxes to go up. Their priority of implementing full day KG over settling the teachers contract is appalling. Sheila Brogan NEEDS TO GO!

  13. Health & benefits 10.7%of the total, wages for teachers 56%, only 1.1% for capital improvements in a $102mn budget… This must be a joke

  14. Only 1.7% of that for extracurricular activities and Admin alone costs over $7mn… Seriously?
