Hackensack NJ, Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco introduced the Bergen County Olympians in his ,”Meet the Bergen County Olympians competing in the 2024 Paris Olympics!” post on Facebook:
Mitchell Saron (Fencing, USA)
Ridgewood-native Mitchell will compete in individual and team sabre in Paris. He began training at Bergen Fencing Club in Waldwick at age 9, and went on to win Ivy League sabre titles in his years at Harvard University.
Salif Mane (Track and Field, USA)
A recent graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University, Salif won the triple jump at the Olympic Trials with a personal best 57-5 ¾ in June.
Hezly Rivera (Gymnastics, USA)
Born in Hackensack and raised in Oradell, 16-year-old Hezly is the youngest member on Team USA and will join the likes of Simone Biles this summer in Paris.
Jaden Marchan (Track and Field, Trinidad and Tobago)
A recent graduate of Leonia HS and an Edgewater resident, Jaden ran a personal-best 46.3 seconds to finish second in the 400 meters at the Trinidad and Tobago Senior National Championships in June.
Scottie Scheffler (Golf, USA)
Though Scottie relocated to Dallas at age 6, he was born in Ridgewood, raised in Montvale, and went to school in Park Ridge. He’s a Bergen County guy in our books!
