Ridgewood NJ, Sixty-five percent of moves in New Jersey are moving moving out of the state. Yes New Jersey is number one, but it’s nothing to proud of.
According to the 2014 Annual National Movers Study, New Jersey has the most number of people leaving the state.Last year, 65 percent of moves in New Jersey were people leaving the state.
In a News 12 New Jersey poll earlier this year ; when asked residents who thought they would be leaving why the bulk of the respondents said the reason for the move is property taxes .

The state Supreme Court will hand down its ruling Tuesday in a major legal battle between Governor Christie and public-sector unions who say his move to cut $1.57 billion from pension funding violated workers’ rights.
The high court’s decision will be released at 10 a.m. Tuesday, according to a news release from state judiciary officials.
The ruling is expected to have a far-reaching impact on New Jersey’s state finances and workers’ rights. At stake is a pension-reform law Christie signed in his first term, which pledged large payments to the strapped pension system for seven years until the funds regained their health. Christie is asking the court to strike down his law during difficult economic times.
Christie’s pension reform was once his signature legislative achievement, a bipartisan agreement that raised worker costs but also pledged more tax dollars to rescue the pension system from collapse. The Republican governor said it was government at its best, protecting 770,000 pension beneficiaries. To this day, Christie boasts about his “pension reform” efforts on frequent trips out of state as he explores a presidential run.

Near what NJ Transit stops can you afford (and not afford) to buy a home?
The map below shows how much a home is worth surrounding every NJ Transit stop in New Jersey.
We found the median home values using Census data for the immediate area surrounding the train stops. For the stops in non-residential areas, like Newark Airport, we used the closest Census block to the stop.
Note: The bigger the circle stations are, the higher the home value.
Keep in mind is that home values around New Jersey train station stops are generally higher than areas further away.
It may be easier than expected for states to save their ObamaCare subsidies, if the Supreme Court rules against the law this month.
Two states — Pennsylvania and Delaware — said this week they would launch their own exchanges, if needed, to keep millions of healthcare dollars flowing after the decision. Both want to use existing pieces of the federal ObamaCare exchange, like its website and call center — a path that would be far less costly than the way most other states have created their exchanges.
If those plans win approval, many of the other 36 states that stand to lose their subsidies could then pursue a similarly simple strategy.
“I think that’s a pretty easy workaround,” Tom Scully, the former director of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services under the Bush administration, said about the two states’ plans.
“The administration has a lot of flexibility, potentially, to define a state exchange,” he added.
But that would spell trouble for Republicans who view the King v. Burwell case as their best chance yet to dismantle Obama’s healthcare law. GOP members of Congress have repeatedly said they must create a backup plan for states so that they are forced to make ObamaCare “fixes.”
With the ruling inching closer, many of the 34 states that could lose big from the King v. Burwell ruling have been quietly plotting how to avert the potential chaos from a decision against the Obama administration.

Three Students Place in Poetry Contest
On May 14, 10 Ridgewood High School students accompanied their teachers to William Paterson University for the Annual Orlando Saa Foreign Language Poetry Recitation Contest. Three RHS students placed in the competitions. Thria Bernabe came in third place in Advanced French, Ken Marshall came in third place in Advanced German and Jeff Zachem placed first in Advanced Latin.

Ridgewood NJ, From Scratch, a Ridgewood-based gourmet dinner delivery company, has announced the grand opening of the first Italia di Gusto, an Italian specialty foods retailer, franchise with a made-to-order casual and authentic Italian eat-in bistro.
This first US franchise retail store and bistro is located at 44 E. Ridgewood Ave., Ridgewood NJ and will hold its grand opening celebration on Saturday, June 6 at 5:00pm. The opening of this store completes Rome native, Chef Claudia Rovegno’s dream to open a storefront in the US.
Festivities will begin at 5:00pm and will include a ribbon cutting, words from Ridgewood Mayor Paul Aronsohn, raffle gifts (including a basket of gourmet Italian products and a board of specialty meats, cheeses and desserts), as well as plenty of food to try.

Some of the music fans at the Hot 97 Summer Jam clashed with law enforcement officers at MetLife Stadium on Sunday night, and State Police in riot gear called in two Bearcat armored personnel carriers and shot streams of pepper spray gas as angry concertgoers hurled bottles, according to reports from the scene.
State Police spokesman Sgt. Gregory Williams said he could confirm only that “additional troopers” had been dispatched to the stadium in East Rutherford, but he could not say how many. He said there were “multiple arrests” inside and outside the stadium, but that he could not give precise numbers.
The concert, with headliners Kendrick Lamar and Chris Brown, continued despite the unrest.
People at the scene said police used sound generators to produce a screeching, ear-pounding noise in an effort to disperse the crowd, only to see it regroup and attack with bottles at another site in the parking lot.
Hundreds of troopers and police officers called in from nearby communities pushed back against crowds of people angry that they could not get into the stadium, using clubs and riot shields, according to reports from the scene.

NJ Transit has a strong institutional culture of protecting the lives of its customers and workers from the dangers of trains, but a newly released study found that employees say the agency’s top leaders value on-time performance over safety and that overall, more can be done to keep workers out of harm’s way while on the job.
The findings of the $467,000 report commissioned by NJ Transit and conducted by Rail Safety Consultants of Pittsfield, N.Y., were confidential until now. And rather than an analysis of statistics on quantifiable mishaps, such as accidents, fires or switch failures, the report attempts to gauge NJ Transit’s attitudes, policies and procedures through a combination of employee surveys and inspector observations in the field.
The Record obtained the report through an Open Public Records Act request.
Survey results and firsthand observations found that train dispatchers and engineers take few risks, maintenance crews perform train and track inspections as required, supervisors speedily investigate accidents and injuries, repair shops are kept clean, and cellphone use is rare among workers on the rails.
The poor keep getting poorer under Democrat rule, Save Jerseyans.
Just the latest example: around 100,000 New Jerseyans are about to see their Obamacare plan premiums rise by 10%, or more, effective January 1, 2016. That’s according to a new look at government data and insurance company reported rate increases from NJ Advance Media‘s Kathleen O’Brien.
Why? Besides the general suckiness of the government’s latest attempt to override the immutable rules of economics and nature? A bunch of stuff that critics like yours truly predicted way back before the ACA was signed including a spike in the number of doctor’s office visits.
And it’s entirely likely to get MUCH worse. We’re expecting a decision from the U.S. Supreme Court in King v. Burwell any day now that will decide the fate of Obamacare’s federal subsidies. Bottom line: as I’ve explained before, the lawcannot survive without subsidies (which should tell you everything right there).

Tyler Clementi’s family is still shattered and struggling with his 2010 suicide. In his memory, Tyler’s heartbroken parents are stepping up their battle against bullying, trying to prevent it before it even starts.
In an emotional interview with “CBS Sunday Morning,” Ridgewood residents Joseph and Jane Clementi discussed how hard life has been since the death of their youngest son, who was an 18-year-old Rutgers University freshman when he jumped off the George Washington Bridge on Sept. 22, 2010. Tyler took his life days after learning that his college roommate had used a webcam to secretly live-stream his romantic encounter with a man in a dorm room. His death drew national attention to the issue of online bullying.
Soon after their son’s death, the Clementis formed the anti-bullying Tyler Clementi Foundation, which describes its mission as promoting “safe and inclusive spaces for LGBT and vulnerable youth and families.” This week the foundation is rolling out “Day One,” an initiative to get authorities in workplaces, schools, universities and athletic programs to immediately demand tolerance for everyone regardless of their sexual orientation, appearance, dress or religion.

Al Pacino has withdrawn from a Danish stage version of Knut Hamsun’s novel, Hunger, after learning that the Norwegian Nobel prize-winning author had been an ardent supporter of Nazi Germany. The move dismayed some of Hamsun’s defenders, but it’s also a reminder of the appalling state of intellectual life during the rise of fascism. So many writers and thinkers embraced fascism in those years that they constituted what came to be called a “fascist foreign legion.”
considered a classic of psychological literature, and Hamsun himself is regarded by many critics and writers as one of the fathers of literary Modernism, and an important influence on such writers as Franz Kafka, Herman Hesse, Thomas Mann, and many others. In a 1987 introduction to Hunger, Isaac Bashevis Singer wrote that “The whole modern school of fiction in the twentieth century stems from Hamsun.”
The head of Norway’s Hamsun Society, Hege Faust, lamented Pacino’s failure to distinguish Hamsun’s writerly achievements from the politics he embraced as an old man. “If one looks at the impactHunger made on Hemingway, Kafka, Hesse, Lindgren, Singer and other prominent authors at the time, it is somewhat strange to see to what extent this differs from today’s judgement” by Pacino, she told Britain’s Telegraph.
Hamsun’s fascism was hardly a byproduct of hardening of the arteries. He lived for a time in the 1880s in the U.S., and came to dislike the country for its egalitarian principles, and because it had a large Black population (even though that population wasn’t benefitting much from the egalitarianism). His 1918 novel, Growth of the Soil, is a pretty good example of “blood and soil” lit. John Carey, a British critic, cites a passage from Hamsun’s Kareno trilogy of dramas, written in the 1890s, as indicative of his outlook:
“I believe in the born leader, the natural despot, the master, not the man who is chosen but the man who elects himself to be ruler over the masses. I believe in and hope for one thing, and that is the return of the great terrorist, the living essence of human power, the Caesar.”
