Ridgewood NJ, During #WomensHistoryMonth, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office is recognizing the critical role of women in Bergen County law enforcement.
Ridgewood Police Chief Jacqueline Luthcke shares her thoughts:
“As far back as I can remember, I was drawn to being a police officer. I think it stems from my desire to always help people.
Being a female really doesn’t make a difference in this field of work. What matters is what you bring to the table, such as your values, morals, integrity and common sense.
If it is something you want to do, then don’t let anyone stop you. You have so much to offer. Don’t let anyone sway you from what you want. Yes, you will need to prove yourself when you first get hired, but so does every other new officer. Yes, you are smart enough and strong enough, physically and mentally, to do this job. And yes, you can balance work and family just as well as everyone else. This is a very rewarding job for anyone who chooses it.”
We apologize for the delay , the post was inadvertently stuck in draft form and no we are not looking to duck a parking ticket.
Congratulations to Chief Luthcke !
