Ridgewood NJ, A late afternoon Sunday, 09/04 bicyclist vs. pedestrian crash on the Saddle River Area Bike Path in Ridgewood sent the adult male cyclist involved in the collision on a short ambulance ride to The Valley Hospital with multiple injuries. Ridgewood PD and EMS responded along with a unit from the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division. The pedestrian involved in the crash refused transport to the hospital after being evaluated on the scene by Ridgewood EMS EMTs.
I use the bike path for running. Very few cyclists ring a bell or say “On your lerf” when passing. I do not listen to music and sometimes I am startled by the speeding bikes that pass. Sometimes they pass down the middle between pedestrians.
Casual bikers often do not know what to do. When in doubt they should just slow down.
Very surprised this has not happened sooner.
I bike on the path every day….the ass clowns that go 20mph on their bikes should be shot.
Someone is going to really get hurt one day.
County cops should be on the path and issuing tickets to cyclists that exceed 12mph….
BAN ALL BICYCLES !!!!!

I witnessed accident, bike rider didn’t even have courtesy to ask if runner was injured. What a jerk.
I think the expression “Nancy boy” expired about 75 years ago.

you guys are a bunch of d-bags. love how you all assume it’s the biker’s fault and don’t ask for a second whether the pedestrian was keeping to the right, paying attention, stepped in front of the biker, etc. most bikers aren’t looking to hit anyone, as typically they are going to get seriously injured trying to avoid the collision. But keep operating in your myopic world where you can walk down the path staring at your smartphone without the courtesy of sharing the road.
The fast moving bicyclists are dangerous! I I would be very nervous to bring my young children on some of these trails. They really should have their own area. Imagine having to be fearful to bring a child to a PARK. Some of these bicyclists really need to slow it down. It isn’t a race!
How about you walk in the park where the biker can’t go and take your kids with you!
