Ridgewood NJ, Village Council members Wednesday night resoundingly rejected a plan to relocate the Village’s bus terminal from Van Neste Square to Wilsey Square, citing the proposed elimination of 17 municipal parking spaces (at Wilsey Square) in conjunction with such a plan as their major concern.
Police Department and Engineering Department personnel were on hand during the Zoom meeting to pitch their plan for: 1) eliminating bus traffic on East Ridgewood Avenue (by moving it to Franklin Avenue) and 2) co-locating the bus terminal with the train station, but Council members steadfastly refused to buy in.
The final word from the Council is that the bus terminal location will remain where it is for now, at Van Neste Square.
Good move.
Putting the bus station in Wilsey Square would be a disaster
Doesn’t make sense to me to reject this on the basis of potentially loosing 17 parking spaces.
We have the empty garage run by the empty heads at the VC that could make up for this.
We should fire the village engineer. He’s a waste of money.

Why can’t the bus route be changed without a bus station?
What is the purpose of the terminal? Tickets can be purchased on your phone or from the driver. Protection from rain is not offered on 99% of the NJT bus routes. If getting buses off Ridgewood Ave is the goal, just do it, don’t let the bus terminal stop the process.
The west side is congested enough. This would be a nightmare.

Hey listen if the mayor and council keeps his sorry ass, and the other network from the Parks Dept I really feel bad for the Village of Ridgewood. Why because the mayor and council are condoning their actions. So when a lawsuit comes just enjoy the big payout. That’s what’s going to happen when you sit on your hands.
It definitely needs to be moved to somewhere else because we do not need New Jersey transit buses running through the CBD. It’s too dangerous to drive too fast they’re constantly hitting peoples mirrors on their cars. Is way too much traffic throughout the CBD. Let New Jersey transit pay for it, How about behind Graydon pool. It’s out-of-the-way
