Ridgewood NJ, he Village Council’s Wednesday night decision not to back bill restaurant owners for lost parking revenue in connection with street located dining “corrals” will result in a revenue loss of $16,000 to Ridgewood taxpayers.

Most of the dining “corrals” have been in place since the pedestrian mall initiative ended late last year, and came as a result of restaurant owners seeking additional space in which their patrons could safely eat outdoors.
The “free pass” on fees in connection with the Winter and early Spring months was approved by Council members who felt many restaurants were struggling to stay afloat financially during that time.  However, fees for street located dining “corrals” will be collected for the months of May, June, and possibly July said Village Manager Heather Mailander.

  3. Shut down all of Ys Ridgewood Avenue let everybody open up their stores late, let’s bring business center of the village. Keep village money in Ridgewood, don’t push them out to go to the mall and spend your money. It’s just common sense , It’s all about PR, public relations should be number one priority right now spring and summer and fall. I don’t wanna hear about any ordinance that the store has to close by 8 o’clock if they want to keep the store open till 10 ,11 o’clock like the restaurants good for them.

  4. When the story of the pandemic is written in decades to come, the pods created for restaurants will be seen as among countless notable errors, containing aerosols in a small space and encouraging people to leave their masks off and talk and laugh loudly in each other’s faces as a stranger walks in and out.

  9. Yes there should be people working on the weekends throughout the CBD, we pay police to stand around all day at intersections. How come we are not having some kind of staffing to make sure things are kept tidy throughout the CBD.
