Ridgewood NJ, General Motors has unveiled its next-generation ‘hands-free’ driver-assist technology, Ultra Cruise. Ultra Cruise can be used in 95 percent of driving scenarios. A light bar will communicate to the driver when they need to take control. Ultra Cruise will be available in a handful of premium vehicles in 2023. GM’s driver-assist systems have been praised as safer and more capable than Tesla’s Autopilot thanks to its camera-based driver monitoring system that ensures drivers keep their eyes on the road. Ultra Cruise is a Level 2 system, which means that a human is required to be ready to take control in the driver’s seat at any time.

Bioscience Company Raises $15m to bring back Woolly Mammoth from Extinction

Princeton-based Venture Capital firm SOSV to establish the U.S. Headquarters for Tech Startup Program in Newark

Newark NJ,  the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) and Princeton-based venture capital firm SOSV intend to form a new entity (HAX LLC) to bring SOSV’s acclaimed HAX hard tech startup development program to Newark.  SOSV will also establish the U.S. headquarters of the HAX program at the Newark site.  HAX provides complete support for emerging companies, including a $250,000 initial investment in each participating company, 180 days of hands-on collaboration, and a global founder community for early stage founders building hard tech startups. Newark was selected as the location for the new HAX program site and the U.S. HAX headquarters through a competitive search that compared locations across the country.

The $299 glasses can record photos and 30-second videos via dual 5-megapixel cameras, play open-air sound without headphones, and take calls. Photos and videos can be shared with a companion smartphone app. Wayfarer Stories come in several styles and colors and can be made as sunglasses or with untinted, prescription, or progressive lenses. The glasses will only have a couple of hours of battery life, but its included charging case will provide roughly a day of use.
