Hollywood CA, Film Director Jennifer Linch presents her new martial arts romantic comedy, ‘Kung Fu Ghost’ to be released in 2020.

According to Jennifer Linch, “There is no supernatural romantic martial arts comedy being made for the last 45 years so I need to make one so I can watch it. Because that’s what I want to watch. “

She goes on, “I want to make martial arts comedy because I love and train in martial arts and I love comedy. I just want to make a film that even just 1-2 people can watch it and laugh and have fun.   And I think the most important thing when watching Kung Fu Ghost is that you should get some beer, some wings or some special brownie, then you will have a super great time watching it.”

“Kung Fu Ghost “, follows Daisy played by Jennifer Linch who inherits a spooky old estate in America from her grandfather, a martial arts master whom she had never met. When she arrives in the US and shows up on the property, she soon discovers the house is haunted by her grandfather’s spirit and the ghost of a mysterious man named William played by Noah Sargent. When treasure-hunting criminals descend on Daisy’s new home, she is forced to call on her new supernatural friends to fend them off.

At wits’ end over the final ‘Downton Abbey’

downton abbey

THE RECORD

Downton Abbey finale

9 p.m. Sunday, PBS

In these rude and crude times, how I wish Violet Crawley, Dowager Countess of Grantham, could dispense her wit and wisdom to a world she’d never live to see.

Can you imagine if Violet, an octogenarian in 1925, were to aim some of her best zingers at 2016’s most annoying and discourteous transgressors?

“Vulgarity is no substitute for wit,” she might say to any number of today’s politicians, pundits and social-media commentators. And, Violet, played to perfection by Dame Maggie Smith, could fix the self-righteous with that withering stare and ask, “Does it ever get cold on the moral high ground?”

Violet’s witticisms top the list of things I shall most miss about “Downton Abbey,” which airs its 93-minute grand finale at 9 p.m. Sunday. For several months a year over the past half decade, PBS’ highest rated drama has been a weekly respite from 21st century life, an escape to a world of manners, civility, magnificent homes, stunning and elegant clothing, a place where dignity was greatly valued.

As I write this, I have not yet previewed the finale of the sixth and final season on the press site, in part, because I want to be surprised, in part out of fear that I’d inadvertently spill spoilers.

These days, of course, it’s easy enough for anyone in America to find out what happens next, as the “Downton” finale was written about and recapped aplenty after it aired in Great Britain on Christmas night. What’s more, the final season DVD has been available for purchase since late January.

Still, I’d rather avoid specifics here and just ponder something that Hugh Bonneville, who played Robert Crawley, Earl of Grantham, said about the final episode when cast members did a press event in New York City in early December: “There are conclusions to a lot of wonderful stories, but not everything is tied up in bows,” he said. “It’s left to the imagination of the audience, for them to continue these characters’ stories in their own imaginations.”

Along the way, “Downton Abbey” picked up Primetime Emmy Award nominations as outstanding drama series four years in a row (for a total of 59 nominations and 12 Emmy wins, over its run), and lost two of its most beloved characters — Lady Sybil Crawley (Jessica Brown Findlay) and Matthew Crawley (Dan Stevens), deaths precipitated by the actors choosing to not renew their contracts. But at that December event, cast members and executive producer Gareth Neame suggested there would be mostly happy endings Sunday night.

Oscar Ratings: Return Of Chris Rock Sees Show Hit 8-Year Low

chris rock

Chris Rock came out swinging in one of the most anticipated opening monologues in years and took on the diversity controversy from the get-go at the 88th Academy Awards. Last night also saw Brie Larson win Best Actress, Leonardo DiCaprio snag Best Actor in his sixth nomination, Alejandro G. Iñárritu was named Best Directorand Spotlight won Best Picture. With all that, the Oscars themselves did not have a great night ratings-wise with a 23.1/37 in metered market results.

Declining to an 8-year low, that’s down 6% from the 24.6/39 that the ceremony got last year in early results from the 56 markets across the country. That 2015 Neil Patrick Harris-hosted Oscars were matched with the 2011 Oscars for the third worst the Academy Awards has done in MM ratings since the last time Rock fronted the gig in 2005 – only 2009’s Hugh Jackman-hosted 23.3 and 2008’s Jon Stewart-hosted 21.9 were lower. Obviously, in the early results, last night’s show dipped below 2009 and close to 2008 numbers.

The 2005 Oscars were the best the show has done in the past decade with a 30.1/43 MM rating. That high has also remained true in later numbers for the show. WithMillion Dollar Baby winning Best Picture, the 2005 Oscars ended up with a massive 42.14 million viewers and 19.6 million among adults 18-49. In both categories, that was a dip from 2004’s results. Compared to the last time Rock hosted 11-years ago, last night’s 8:30 – midnight show was down 23% in metered market results – much more than a dip.

Valentines Day Boudoir Photo shoot for that Someone Special

Valentines Day Boudoir Photo shoot for that Someone Special

At the Studio or in the Privacy of your own home

So, what is boudoir photography exactly?
Boudoir photography is a sexy new trend that’s especially popular as a wedding day gift from a bride to her groom. Some also create a gift for their boyfriend or just for themselves.  Boudoir photos are usually taken wearing either just a little, or well, nothing at all. They’re hardly X-rated though, but rather PG-13 — as in classic pinup-inspired pics, or what the pros call ‘implied nudes.’ That means you’re not wearing anything, but you’re also not showing off anything either (think shot from the back, or lying on your stomach).

When should I schedule the session?
If you’re spending time and money on an exercise and beauty routine, you may want to wait until a week or so before the wedding to show off the results. Plus, a fun and pampering photo shoot is a good way to indulge and take some time out from wedding planning. Though you might be inclined arrange for the session on the morning of your wedding, resist the urge. For one, you’re not likely to feel very sultry if the rain clouds looming over your outdoor ceremony site are the first thing on your mind. Second, do you really want your to-be mother-in-law walking in on you while you’re posing in just your veil? Stick with a separate shoot so you’ll have time to really feel comfortable and get some great shots.

How long does it take?
Though it depends on the package you choose, your boudoir photo session will probably last about two hours. Why so long? It takes time for hair and makeup, plus the additional lighting setup. It may also take you a little while to relax. Most brides aren’t used to lounging around wearing little, if any, clothing in front of the camera, so your first few shots will likely look a bit stiff.

Where should I have it done?
In my studio in Old City Philadelphia or a posh hotel room. Your own home or a borrowed home is another option. The main key is to get a number of different backgrounds for poses are important, and they’ll also need lots of natural light.

What should I wear?
The most important thing — choose outfits that make you feel sexy. A good rule of thumb: Bring something white, something black, and something in a bright color so you can mix and match. A corset will create sexy curves. In addition to lingerie, don’t forget shoes, jewelry, and that engagement ring.

Should I bring anyone along?
Though you don’t want to turn your shoot into a three-ring circus, it’s a good idea to bring a friend. Why? You’ll feel more at ease if you can make a few jokes with a pal, plus she may be able to help with suggestions. Another idea: Bring a bottle of bubbly. A little champagne may help loosen things up. You’ll be posing like a pro in no time — but of course, this is a one-time-only exclusive for a very special audience (your very lucky groom).

The Hermitage Special Exhibit: Valentines and Victorians

The Hermitage, a National Historic Landmark and house museum

Special Exhibit: Valentines and Victorians

January 25-February 28, 2013

In 1847, Esther Howland of Worchester, Massachusetts, designed the first American handmade Valentine. Coincidently, the first U.S. postage stamp was issued on July 1, 1847—perfect timing to mail Valentine’s Day cards!

Also in 1847, Elijah Rosencrantz hired the architect William Ranlett to renovate his 1760s farmhouse as a prestigious family home. Today, the romantic Gothic Revival-style Hermitage is a National Historic Landmark and a historic house museum that showcases the Victorian era of the mid-to-late nineteenth century. Rose-motif wallpaper gives a romantic feeling to the front parlor of The Hermitage, a room where the Rosencrantz family entertained during the nineteenth century. Hand-painted vases and vintage Valentines—and of course, red roses—adorn several of the rooms to celebrate Valentine’s Day at The Hermitage. Valentines exchanged by members of the Rosencranz family from the Hermitage Archives are also on display.

The Hermitage will celebrate Valentine’s Day from January 25 through February 28, 2013. The museum is open for guided tours Wednesdays through Sundays. Tours begin at 1:15, 2:15, and 3:15 pm. Please call ahead to be sure a volunteer docent is scheduled to conduct tours and to check for closings in case of inclement weather.
