Hawthorne NJ, the driver and one (1) passenger of a Volkswagen Passat were transported to an area hospital following a Thursday afternoon, 12/03 crash in the 600 block of Goffle Hill Road, Hawthorne, in which the Passat crashed through an outer wall of a single family home and wound up in the basement garage. Hawthorne Fire was assisted by Wyckoff Fire at the scene. Hawthorne Police, Hawthorne EMS, and Wyckoff Police also responded.

Hawthorne NJ, A medical episode was the likely cause of a late Monday morning, 10/28, motor vehicle crash in the 500 block of Goffle Road, Hawthorne. Hawthorne Police, a BLS ambulance from The Valley Hospital, and a paramedic team from St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center responded to aid the adult male crash victim, whose injuries appeared to have been non life-threatening. A hydraulic lift tow truck removed the wrecked 4-door Ford sedan from the scene.

Driver Hurt After Vehicle Strikes Utility Pole in Hawthorne

Hawthorne NJ, A truck driver sustained non life threatening injuries during a crash in which his vehicle struck a utility pole in the 500 block of Goffle Hill Road, Hawthorne, on Tuesday morning, 03/05. Hawthorne EMS was assisted with patient evaluation by a paramedic team from The Valley Hospital. The driver was transported to a local hospital for treatment. A PSE&G Electric Division crew was requested to the scene due to the damaged pole and a broken guy wire. Wyckoff Police assisted Hawthorne Police with traffic control The wrecked truck was towed from the scene.

3 injured as Bobcat machine falls through pedestrian bridge in Hawthorne

Hawthorne NJ, A small bobcat front end loader being used to remove snow from a pedestrian bridge over Route 208 in Hawthorne fell through the concrete bridge surface onto the highway below on Monday morning, 03/04. The operator of the front end loader, a Borough of Hawthorne employee, and an occupant of a work van traveling on the highway were both seriously injured in the mishap. Route 208 northbound was closed indefinitely between Utter Avenue and Goffle Road in Hawthorne, Hawthorne Police , EMS and Fire Department units responded and were assisted by Glen Rock PD, and Wyckoff Fire Department. NJDOT representatives were also at the scene.

Hawthorne Police Discover Stabbing Victim in Work Van

Hawthorne NJ, Hawthorne Police located a 26- year old male, who had reportedly been stabbed, sitting inside of a dark blue work van displaying NY State commercial license plates parked in the rear of 320 Lafayette Avenue, Hawthorne shortly before 9 PM on Sunday, 02/10. The victim, who was bleeding from multiple stab wounds, was transported by ambulance to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson. Police on the scene would not say if the victim had been stabbed at the location from which he was transported to the hospital, or at another location. Police were directed to the parked van by a 911 telephone call. Yellow crime scene tape cordoned off the entire parking lot where the van was parked.

Hawthorne NJ, Hawthorne Police Department personnel investigate a serious accident involving a pedestrian on Goffle Road near the southbound exit ramps for Route 208 in Hawthorne on Wednesday evening, 12/19. The victim, an adult male, was rushed to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center by a Hawthorne EMS ambulance. His condition was reported to be extremely critical.

Glen Rock NJ, from the Glen Rock Police department ; We received word that the Hawthorne Police Dept has received many telephone calls at their Police Headquarters reporting that residents are receiving calls from people claiming to be from Social Security, stating there is a problem with thier accounts and they need to contact SS Office, or a Police Officer will call them. This is a SCAM, Social Security is not calling asking for info.

Never provide INFO, please advise friends, family and neighbors especially the elderly as they may be easy target.

SUV Backs Into House in Hawthorne

Hawthorne NJ, A Honda SUV being backed out of a driveway slammed into the front of a 2-family Hawthorne residence shortly after 7 PM on Tuesday, 12/11. Hawthorne Police, Hawthorne Fire, and Hawthorne EMS responded to the incident, which was located in the 100 block of Passaic Avenue at the corner of Loretto Avenue, Hawthorne. The SUV’s female driver complained of a non life threatening back injury and was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for evaluation. Moderate structural damage was reported to the struck residence. A flatbed tow truck removed the wrecked vehicle from the scene.

Glen Rock NJ,A Thursday evening, 12/06, basement fire in a single family home located at 562 South Maple Avenue, Glen Rock, injured at least one (1) firefighter and required the services of several neighboring fire departments to extinguish. Glen Rock Fire Department was assisted by personnel from Ridgewood Fire Department  , Fair Lawn Fire Department , and Hawthorne Fire Department at the scene. Glen Rock Police and Glen Rock EMS also responded. The cause and exact origin of the blaze is currently under investigation.

Hawthorne Police Cruiser Involved in Collision on Diamond Bridge Avenue and Goffle Road

Hawthorne NJ, A two (2) vehicle Saturday afternoon, 12/01, crash involving a marked Hawthorne Police Department vehicle resulted in the drivers of both vehicles being transported to local hospitals by ambulances. The collision occurred at the intersection of Diamond Bridge Avenue and Goffle Road shortly before 2 PM and sent one (1) of the vehicles down an embankment into a section of the nearby Goffle Brook County Park. Hawthorne EMS and Hawthorne Fire Department also responded to the incident. Both wrecked vehicles were removed from the scene by flatbed tow trucks. Unofficial reports are that the injuries to both the police officer and other driver were non life threatening in nature. A utility pole was also damaged in the crash; a PSE&G was on the scene minutes after the impact evaluating its condition.

NJT Main Line Trains Delayed Yesterday Afternoon Due to freight train derailment in Hawthorne

Hawthorne NJ, Track crews from NJ Transit worked late into Thursday night, 11/29, at the scene of a freight train derailment on the Main Line near Loretto Avenue in Hawthorne. According to posted reports, three (3) hopper cars of a seven (7) car freight train derailed shortly after 12 noon on Thursday. No injuries were reported, but plastic material from the cars was said to have spilled onto the tracks. Passenger trains on the Main Line were delayed on the average of 10-15 minutes throughout the day.

GREIG (DOB: 4/20/82, single; and unemployed) of 26 Parker Avenue, Hawthorne, New Jersey on charges of Stalking, Contempt Of A Stalking Restraining Order, Cyber-Harassment, and Harassment. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti and the Glen Rock Police Department under the direction of Chief Dean Ackermann.

Chemical Spill Reported at Glen Rock Police Headquarters

Glen Rock NJ, Glen Rock Fire Department and Hawthorne Fire Department  personnel rushed to Glen Rock Police Department headquarters, 1 Harding Plaza, Glen Rock on Thursday afternoon, 10/11, in response to a possible chemical spill within the building. Firefighters dressed in protective gear entered the building and removed at least two (2) containers of an unknown substance(s) found in a mechanical room. Glen Rock Police Lieutenant Frank Riggio stated that there were no injuries reported in the incident. He also said that it appeared as if one or more of the containers found by firefighters may have been leaking, causing the odor which triggered a phone call for Fire Department assistance.

Glen Rock Fire Department Rescues Two Cats at Sycamore Terrace Fire

Glen Rock NJ, October 5 , the Glen Rock Volunteer Fire Department reported that at 0222 hours this morning, GRFD was dispatched for a reported working fire on Sycamore Terrace. On arrival, Chief Jennings and Asst Chief Aguilar made entry into the basement and observed a heavy smoke condition. Engine 833 (Lt Pimlott) established a water supply and stretched a hand line. Ladder 832 (Capt Burbano) assisted with ventilation and overhaul as well as the rescue of two cats from the structure. Special thanks to Ridgewood, Hawthorne, Fair Lawn, Wyckoff and Paramus for invaluable mutual aid assistance.
