Ted Cruz takes on the New York Times say produce evidence or issue a Formal Apology

NEW YORK TIMES IS LYING: CRUZ CAMPAIGN CALLS ON THE TIMES TO RELEASE THEIR EVIDENCE OR ISSUE A FORMAL APOLOGY

07/10/15

HOUSTON, Texas — Yesterday, news broke that the New York Timeshad omitted Cruz’s best-selling book A Time for Truth from their best-seller list.

Bookscan, a subscription service that tracks the vast majority of book sales in America, is usually a reliable indicator of the New York Timesbestseller list. For example, this week’s #1 and #2 books on Bookscan are also #1 and #2 on the NYT list. But the #3 book, Cruz’s A Time for Truth, has been omitted altogether from the top twenty spots on theNew York Times list.

This is despite the fact that Cruz’s book sold more copies last week than 18 of the 20 books on the list.

Their decision to blackball Cruz’s book suggests that the Times very much does not want people to read the book.

The Times’s initial explanation was cryptic: “We have uniform standards that we apply to our best seller list, which includes an analysis of book sales that goes beyond simply the number of books sold.”

When the Times was roundly condemned for its obvious political bias, they issued a revised statement: “In the case of this book, the overwhelming preponderance of evidence was that sales were limited to strategic bulk purchases.”

This statement is false, and the Times knows it.

There were no “strategic bulk purchases.” Cruz spent last week on a nation-wide book tour, signing copies of his book at multiple locations. Booksellers at each event had long lines—sometimes over 400 people per event.

Pictures from some of these signings may be found here: Arlington, TX, Katy, TX, and Sioux City, IA.

Simultaneously, Cruz’s book was ranked the #1 political seller on Amazon, and made it as high as the #9 overall seller (across all categories, including fiction).

“The Times is presumably embarrassed by having their obvious partisan bias called out. But their response—alleging ‘strategic bulk purchases’—is a blatant falsehood,” said Cruz campaign spokesperson Rick Tyler. “The evidence is directly to the contrary. In leveling this false charge, the Times has tried to impugn the integrity of Senator Cruz and of his publisher Harper Collins.”

“We call on the Times, release your so-called ‘evidence.’ Demonstrate that your charge isn’t simply a naked fabrication, designed to cover up your own partisan agenda. And, if you cannot do so, then issue a public apology to Senator Cruz and Harper Collins editor Adam Bellow for making false charges against them.”

Lois Lerner, DOJ and FBI Had Meeting About Targeting Obama’s Opponents, Networks ;ABC, NBC, CBS Refuse to Report

pic_giant_052313_Lois-Lerner-Fifth-Amendment

By Geoffrey Dickens | July 8, 2015 | 3:18 PM EDT

What’s it going to take for the networks to start seriously reporting on the IRS scandal again? On Tuesday, Judicial Watch announced the stunning revelation that newly discovered Department of Justice and IRS documents showed there was “an October 2010 meeting between Lois Lerner, DOJ officials and the FBI to plan for the possible criminal prosecution of targeted nonprofit organizations for alleged illegal political activity.” This latest bombshell has yet to be reported on any of the Big Three (ABC, NBC, CBS) networks.

The July 7 Judicial Watch press release added: “The newly obtained records also reveal that the Obama DOJ wanted IRS employees who were going to testify to Congress to turn over documents to the DOJ before giving them to Congress. Records also detail how the Obama IRS gave the FBI 21 computer disks, containing 1.25 million pages of confidential IRS returns from 113,000 nonprofit social 501(c)(4) welfare groups  – or nearly every 501(c)(4) in the United States – as part of its prosecution effort.”

Poll: 70 percent of Americans believe news media is intentionally biased

BY EDDIE SCARRY | JULY 3, 2015 | 11:34 AM

Nearly three quarters of Americans believe the news media reports with an intentional bias, according to a new survey.

The 2015 State of the First Amendment Survey, conducted by the First Amendment Center and USA Today, was released Friday. It shows that only 24 percent of American adults agree with the statement that “overall, the news media tries to report the news without bias,” while 70 percent disagree.

When the question was asked last year, 41 percent agreed, a 17-point difference.

“These are discouraging results for those of us who have spent our careers in journalism,” Ken Paulson, president of the First Amendment Center, wrote in an op-ed for USA Today on Thursday. “In 23 years in newsrooms, I saw consistent and concerted efforts to get stories right. Clearly, the public’s not convinced.”

Study Suggests Google Harms Consumers by Skewing Search Results

Yelp-sponsored research examines Google’s practice of promoting its own search services

By TOM FAIRLESS
June 29, 2015 4:18 a.m. ET

BRUSSELS—New research by two U.S. academics suggests thatGoogle Inc. is harming Internet users and violating competition laws by skewing search results to favor its own services, a potentially significant twist in Europe’s long-running antitrust investigation of the U.S. search company.

The research combines statistical testing with detailed legal and economic analysis to examine the ramifications of Google’s practice of promoting its own specialized search services, such as for local restaurants or doctors, at the expense of rivals such as Yelp and TripAdvisor.

It was sponsored by Yelp, which has filed a complaint with European Union antitrust authorities over Google’s search practices. It was presented to EU regulators on Friday.

Donald Trump’s statement about NBC hits ‘lying’ Brian Williams

After NBCUniversal severed its relationships with Donald Trump on Monday, the billionaire businessman and presidential candidate responded by invoking suspended NBC anchorman Brian Williams and threatening to meet NBC in court.

Here is Trump’s statement: “As of today, Donald J. Trump is no longer affiliated with NBC. Mr. Trump stands by his statements on illegal immigration, which are accurate. NBC is weak, and like everybody else is trying to be politically correct— that is why our country is in serious trouble.

Yes, Bill Clinton Praised Daughters of Confederacy

clinton_gore

Dan Gainor | June 21, 2015 10:39am ET

In the midst of left-wing and media criticism of the Confederate flag, it’s important to note that many prominent liberals have supported the Confederacy or its flag – including presidents Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton.

President Clinton actually honored the United Daughters of the Confederacy three times during his presidency, as reported by The Black Commentatorin 2008.

According to Clinton’s White House letter, dated June 21, 1994:

“One of the most rewarding of human experiences is the coming together of people to share common experiences and interests. For 100 years, the United Daughters of the Confederacy has maintained and built upon the wonderful legacy of your founders. The strength of your organization today is a testament of the vision of your founders and to your commitment to your shared goals.

I congratulate you on your achievement, and I extend best wishes for many years of continuing success.”

Liberal ‘mainstream’ media declawed as CBS legend Bob Schieffer admits defeat

Bob_Schieffer_theridgewoodblog

Veteran CBS News anchor Bob Schieffer blew the mask off the liberal media’s “unbiased journalism” charade by saying it’s “harder and harder” to tell people “what they need to know.”

After a 46-year career with CBS, Schieffer is hosting his last “Face the Nation” Sunday.

Schieffer told “CBS This Morning” on Friday that since he began his career, a “revolution in communications” has turned Washington D.C. “upside-down.”

“We now don’t know where people get their news,” Schieffer said. “But what we do know is they’re bombarded with information 24 hours a day, seven days a week.”

In a last-ditch defense of his liberal colleagues, he said that mainstream journalism’s job is to “tell people what we think is relevant in what they need to know. That is the job of the journalist and I have to say it’s harder and harder.”

Americans are increasingly turning to alternative media for their news, sparking speculation that the mainstream media is dying.

A 2014 Pew Research study found that cable news audiences declined 11 percent in 2013, with the most liberal of the three cable news channels, MSNBC, leading the dip.

The left-leaning Public Policy Polling found in another poll that “35 percent said they trusted Fox news more than any other outlet, followed by PBS at 14 percent, ABC at 11 percent, CNN at 10 percent, CBS at 9 percent, 6 percent for MSNBC and Comedy Central, and just 3 percent for NBC.”

Blogger Michael Snyder concluded that the mainstream media doesn’t know the true cause of its own decline.

Christie compares coverage of GWB and Clinton email scandals; says media bias apparent

Governor Christie said media bias contributed to heavier coverage of the George Washington Bridge lane closures than of Democrat Hillary Clinton’s use of personal email as secretary of state, as he called for an apology Thursday.

Christie, appearing on CNBC’s Squawk Box, said he was branded as “guilty” by media outlets, but an internal investigation he commissioned, a legislative inquiry led by Democrats and a federal investigation have all cleared him of an involvement in the incident.

“I was guilty, guilty. I had done it,” he said. “Now we’re 15 months later, where are the apologies pouring in? Not one thing I said on the day after the bridge situation has been proven to be wrong.”

ABC’s ‘secret’ $105M gamble on Stephanopoulos

507797821_640

By Emily Smith

May 18, 2015 | 9:47pm

ABC has plenty of reasons to be freaking out over the George Stephanopoulos scandal — 105 million, to be exact.

The “Good Morning America” and “This Week” anchor renewed his contract last year for $105 million, TV industry sources told The Post Monday.

The seven-year deal — which dwarfs the five-year, $50 million contract scored by since-suspended NBC rivalBrian Williams — was supposed to keep Stephanopoulos in front of ABC’s cameras through 2021.

But now his credibility, and future, have been called into question since he admitted Friday that he haddonated $75,000 to the Clinton Foundation since 2011, just as the presidential race gears up with Hillary Rodham Clinton the leading Democrat.

In a mea culpa delivered Sunday on “This Week,” Stephanopoulos, who was also a top aide in President Bill Clinton’s White House, said the gifts “were a matter of public record, but I should have made additional disclosures on air when we covered the foundation.”

It was his second on-air apology in less than a week.

Sources have said ABC News execs were blindsided by Stephanopoulos’ largesse, and one TV insider noted Monday that “ABC really has all their money on Stephanopoulos.”

Clinton Foundation donors : Main Stream Media Credibility Crisis

abc_wn_george_121011_wg
“No matter what.  Stephanopoulos is not a journalist.  You’re talking about the media as though they’re still media, and they’re not.  The reason you’re not… You can march on the media and the networks all you want. You may as well go to the DNC and march because that’s who they are.  They are the Democrat National Committee.  Every damned one of them.  Every editor, every executive, every producer, every writer, every reporter, every anchor, is the Democrat National Committee.”  Rush Limbaugh

NBC Universal, News Corporation, Turner Broadcasting and Thomson Reuters are among more than a dozen media organizations that have made charitable contributions to the Clinton Foundation in recent years, the foundation’s records show.

The donations, which range from the low-thousands to the millions, provide a picture of the media industry’s ties to the Clinton Foundation at a time when one of its most notable personalities, George Stephanopoulos, is under scrutiny for his previously undisclosed $75,000 contribution.

Reader says , With Bridgegate ; The Record continues to beat this dead non-story.

no_news_theridgewoodblog

Meanwhile they take the “what Difference Does it Make” approach to truly troubling stories… like presidential abuse of power in the Menendez and Tea Party cases or the Hillary Email-gate and FoundationFunding-gate national security issues.

That paper is not even fit for bird cages…

It is remarkable just how the media basically destroyed Christie with this relentless story, despite there being no evidence that Christie had any involvement in it. On the other hand, we have the leading contender to become the next President, and a far stronger set of circumstances that possibly involve all kinds of conflicts of interest and huge money, and the mainstream media are nowhere to be seen.

Our mainstream media is beyond corrupt.

That’s easy to explain. They would do it because they thought it would be what Christie wanted. They did it because it was punishment to “the other side”. Political campaign people get a little drunk on power and this is what appears to have happened. It’s no mystery when you want to come up with motives.

North Jersey Media and the War on Chris Christie

Xanadu_main_theridgewoodblog

May 9,2015
the staff of the Ridgewood blog

Ridgewood NJ, Bridgegate : “The Fort Lee lane closure scandal, also known as the George Washington Bridge lane closure scandal or Bridgegate,[1][2] is a U.S.political scandal in which a staff member and political appointees of New Jersey Governor Chris Christie collaborated to create traffic jams in Fort Lee, New Jersey by closing lanes at the toll plaza” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fort_Lee_lane_closure_scandal

Ever since the Bridgegate or Bridgeapoolza scandal broke in September 2013 , North Jersey Media has lead a non stop crusade of attacks on Governor Chris Christie . Lets put a side the silliness of making a scandal out of a “traffic jam” at the George Washington Bridge …snore.

A scandal in scandal plagued New Jersey isn’t really much news , the selective coverage and attacks on Chris Christie are . Its funny how the same media ignores criticism of Senator Bob Menedez , Former Governor Florio, “Jim” McGreevey and the king of ineptitude Jon Corzine ,while turing a blind eye to the total destruction of the state once vibrant economy , pension short falls and government waste .All the sins of the last 20 years have now all been laid squarely at the foot of Chris Christie .

All they attacks on Christie have amounted to no more than the shocking revelation that he is a Dallas Cowboys fan and yes like ALL NEW JERSEY POLITICIANS  he appoints his friends to state jobs (shocker) .

But today I had to laugh when Record columnist Charles Stile tried to equate and tie Governor Chris Christie to the NFL’s deflate gate .https://www.northjersey.com/news/stile-christie-may-see-a-bit-of-himself-in-tom-brady-s-troubles-1.1330154  .

Meanwhile one of the largest financial fiasco’s in Bergen County history the American Dream Mall formerly know as Jim McGreevey’s , Bob Menendez and Boss Joe Ferriero’s Xanadu lies as a grim monument to vulgarity. Xanadu is nothing more than a great white elephant and reminder of the abject greed and stupidity that motivates our public officials .

Once again we ask “who is the idiot that thought the state needed to build a mall in Bergen County ?”

Xanadu ie..American Dream Meadowlands  (ADM) is a retail and entertainment complex located in the Meadowlands Sports Complex in East Rutherford, New Jersey. It was first proposed in 2003 by the Mills Corporation as the Meadowlands Xanadu. After the bankruptcy of that company in 2007, the project was taken over by Colony Capital. In May 2009, construction stalled due to the bankruptcy of Lehman Brothers. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Dream_Meadowlands.

In the last 20 years the New Jersey media in general and North Jersey media in particular have supported and misrepresented every issue in the favor of its big government friends never questioning  the claims , the cost or the consequences.
Now the the states economic resources have fled ,the roads are crumbling , pensions are underfunded and taxes continue to raise making this state an economic white elephant .
And still no word from North Jersey Media ….

Poll: Just 2% of Young Americans Trust Media to ‘Do the Right Thing’

imgres-1

By Jeffrey Meyer | April 30, 2015 | 9:44 AM EDT

A new poll from Harvard University’s Institute of Politics has some alarming findings about the trustworthiness of the American media. Among adults aged 18-29, the poll found that just 12 percent believe the media “do the right thing.”

An even more startling 88 percent said they “sometimes” or “never” trust the media and just 2 percent of 18-29 year olds said they trust the media to do the right thing “all of the time.” 39 percent said the media “never” do the right thing.

The Washington Examiner’s Paul Bedard called this poll “the latest nail in the media’s coffin, a downward spiral that has resulted in fewer younger Americans reading traditional media and especially traditional platforms such as newspapers and magazines.”

The poll also found that the public’s view of the media’s ability to “do the right thing” ranked the lowest when compared to other organizations. Media ranked 12th with scientists coming in as number 1 followed by the United States military, local police, the Supreme Court, the United Nations, President Obama, local government, state government, federal government, Congress, and Wall Street.

Not only is the media consistently ranked as untrustworthy by the American public, a recent Quinnipiac poll found that among the different media outlets, MSNBC is the least trusted source of news in the United States, while Fox News was the most trusted.

According the poll, just 7 percent of Americans trust MSNBC, with NBC News and CBS news each considered trustworthy by 10 percent. ABC News garnering just 8 percent of the American public’s trust. Fox News ranked first, earning the trust of 29% of Americans.

Chris Christie not so available to the New Jersey press

8451_10200132554652849_667462080_n

by Chris Thompson Published Apr. 10, 2015 4:40 pm Updated Apr. 10, 2015 5:05 pm

New Jersey governor Chris Christie has failed to hold an open-ended press conference since November 12, mostly restricting his public presence to town hall meetings and prepackaged videos sent out by his media relations team, The Associated Press writer Jill Colvin reports.

“The access has just been minimal at best,” New Jersey Press Association executive director George White told The Associated Press.

Christie’s office responded that his numerous town hall meetings with constituents, as well as his monthly hour-long radio appearance on NJ 101.5 and interviews with individual reporters, prove that the governor is still accessible and answerable to the public. “The governor believes it’s just as important, if not more important, to communicate directly with his constituents as it is to communicate with the media,” Christie spokesperson Kevin Roberts told the AP.

Nerd Prom: Film shows how cozy reporters are with White House

Barack Obama

BY EDDIE SCARRY | APRIL 10, 2015 | 12:44 PM

Reporters in the national press are all in bed with their powerful government sources, and that is proven each year during White House Correspondents’ Dinner week. That’s the conclusion of a new documentary directed by a former reporter at one of Washington, D.C.’s biggest news publications.

Patrick Gavin, who most recently worked as a journalist for Politico until leaving in 2014, chronicles in his film the evolution of the White House Correspondents’ Dinner from a small annual gathering of journalists and West Wing officials in the 1920s to the multimillion dollar week-long power-jockeying event it has become today.

“Nerd Prom: Inside Washington’s Wildest Week” is an indictment of the incestuous culture fostered by the Capitol’s elite journalists and the government officials they’re supposed to be holding accountable. In Gavin’s view, this connection is encapsulated by the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

Gavin says in the movie that he created it to find out what the annual event is truly about. By the end, he’s bemoaning the loss of the dinner’s meaning, which is produced by the White House Correspondents’ Association and was originally intended to celebrate press freedom, as well as serve as a scholarship award ceremony for aspiring journalists.
