Reader Says Ridgewood School Should Not Be Closed For The Lunar New Year

Ridgewood NJ, Chinese Americans should obviously be free to celebrate the Lunar New Year, and take an excused school absence, as should any other American who wishes to celebrate this day and originates from a nation that recognizes it. And when learning about other cultures, American schools should teach American children a bit about the holiday and its significance, as they should about many different nations’ and religions’ traditions, holidays, and festivals, and the importance of respecting people from different cultures. We could all benefit from that. However, the Lunar New Year is not an American holiday, nor should we pretend that it is.

Ridgewood Crew Claims Two Medals, Ten Top-Ten Finishes at the 2025 Ironmen Erg Classic

Ramsey, New Jersey – Ridgewood Crew kicked off its 2025 rowing season with a strong team performance, claiming two bronze medals and placing 10 finishers in the top 10 at the 12th annual Ironmen Erg Classic hosted by the Don Bosco Preparatory High School. More than 550 youth rowers from 22 different clubs in New York and New Jersey competed at the indoor event. Ridgewood fielded 46 competitors — the fifth-largest total among all teams — from both middle and high school across seven categories.
