Trenton NJ, an anonymous tip has brought serious allegations against Lt. Col. Sean Kilcomons, the second in command of the New Jersey State Police, sparking a formal investigation by the state’s Office of Public Integrity and Accountability. The tipster claims Kilcomons made an “inappropriate and discriminatory comment” about Attorney General Matt Platkin during the annual Take Your Child to Work Day in April.

Ridgewood NJ, at the April 23, 2024 Ridgewood Zoning Board of Adjustment meeting,in the matter of the Outfront Media LLC application to place an electronic billboard at 500 Route 17 South, there was a packed courtroom .  Residents raised quality of life concerns over the billboard , but something else to look forward to , Anti-Semitic messages .

Glen Rock NJ, the bias vandalism incident at Starbucks reported on 02/19/2024 is still being investigated by Glen Rock Detectives, along with additional officers who have been reassigned from patrol duties. The nature of this incident is similar to what has occurred at a number of Starbucks locations throughout the United States and Canada, where the chain has been targeted in the last few months. Detectives are conferring with police departments in those jurisdictions.

U.S. Department of Education to Probe Teaneck Schools Following Student Walkout

Teaneck NJ, on Friday, the U.S. Department of Education confirmed the initiation of a federal civil rights investigation into Teaneck schools, making it the third educational institution in New Jersey to undergo such scrutiny since the Hamas attacks on Israel on Oct. 7, 2023. Rutgers University was added to the list on Dec. 12, and the Newark School District on Dec. 21. Nationwide, 44 institutions, including Brown University in Rhode Island most recently on Tuesday, are currently under investigation since the mentioned attacks. Teaneck School District was included on Jan. 5 in the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights list for open Title VI Shared Ancestry Investigations, encompassing both institutions of higher education and K-12 schools. The investigation stems from the controversy surrounding a high school student walkout in support of Palestine on Nov. 29, 2023, and subsequent handling by School Superintendent Andre Spencer and the Board of Education’s management of public speakers addressing the topic at its meetings.

New Brunswick, NJ, Marvin and Eva Schlanger are taking a stand by withholding their financial support from Rutgers University. Both proud Rutgers alumni, the couple, who contribute to various educational institutions through their Florida-based nonprofit, the Eva and Marvin Schlanger Family Foundation, has donated over $130,000 to Rutgers. However, they have decided to cease contributions due to what they perceive as the university’s inadequate response to antisemitism following the Israel-Hamas conflict.

Ridgewood NJ, the death of unarmed black man George Floyd at the hands of a Minneapolis police officer was a flash-point for US race relations, setting off massive protests that spread around the world, including Ridgewood .
The demonstrations endorsed the simple messages that “black lives matter”, that the blood of minorities is not cheap and the injustices they face, past and present, must be addressed much more vigorously.
