Rochelle Park NJ, the occupants of a single family home located on North Drive in Rochelle Park safely fled their house moments before it became engulfed by heavy black smoke emanating from the basement early Tuesday morning, 08/22. Firefighters from Rochelle Park were assisted by numerous other agencies in extinguishing the blaze. Unfortunately, the structure sustained heavy fire, smoke, and water damage. One (1) civilian and one (1) firefighter reportedly suffered minor injuries.
Rochelle Park NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of GERRMAIOUD CHAPE (DOB: 4/28/1980; married; self-employed) of 46 Howard Avenue, Rochelle Park, NJ on charges of theft by deception, theft, and forgery. Rochelle Park NJ, Paramus Police Emergency Services Unit equipment & officers were special called to Rochelle Park on Friday morning, 12/30, to assist Rochelle Park Police in the extrication of a passenger vehicle that had become stuck in an automatic car wash. A front bumper mounted power winch was used to facilitate the extrication process. No injuries were reported in the mishap, which was apparently caused when the vehicle’s owner failed to position the 4-door sedan properly before moving forward into the car wash. Damage to the vehicle appeared to have been light to moderate.

Rochelle Park NJ, a tractor trailer fire on Route 17 shut down the southbound side of Route 17 Monday morning. The highway was closed for more than an hour. The tractor-trailer’s cab caught fire near an Acura dealership in Rochelle Park, north of Route 80 and south of Becker Avenue. Firefighters went to work on the truck and contained the fire before 10 a.m., the cab charred from the flames. The New Jersey Department of Transportation advised drivers to follow a detour or plan a different route.
Rochelle Park NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrests of ELIJAH BATTLE (DOB: 1/20/1997; single; unemployed) of Paterson, NJ and ANTHONY AGUILAR (DOB: 6/07/1998; single; currently incarcerated in the Bergen County Jail) on carjacking related charges. The arrests are the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigations Squad under the direction of Chief Jason Love, the Rochelle Park Police Department under the direction of Chief Dean Pinto, and the Maywood Police Department under the direction of Chief Terence Kenny.
Rochelle Park NJ, Three (3) men were quickly apprehended in connection with a late Monday afternoon, 08/01, multi-vehicle crash on Route 17 southbound near East Passaic Street, Rochelle Park, that involved a white Mercedes SUV that was being pursued by Paramus Police units. The Mercedes had allegedly been stolen recently from Manalapan, NJ. At least two (2) tow trucks were observed removing wrecked vehicles from the clogged highway. A pursuing Paramus Police patrol vehicle was reportedly one of the vehicles damaged in the pileup. One (1) injury was linked to the incident; a Paramus EMS ambulance was dispatched to aid the adult female victim, who sustained a non-life threatening leg injury. Maywood Police and Rochelle Park Police officers aided in the capture of the suspects who had fled the crashed Mercedes.
Rochelle Park NJ, Rochelle Park Fire Department and Maywood Fire Department required the use of hydraulic extrication tools to free an individual who was entrapped inside of a Mazda SUV that had flipped on its side after hitting a tree in the 300 block of West Passaic Street, Rochelle Park on Tuesday morning, 07/19. BLS and ALS personnel from Hackensack University Medical Center (HUMC) aided the victim on scene before ambulance transport to HUMC’s main campus. Rochelle Park Police provided traffic control at the scene and investigated the single vehicle crash. The heavily damaged vehicle was righted by a hydraulic lift tow truck prior to its removal from the scene by a flatbed tow truck.
