A shocking video has emerged showing an ISIS militant who speaks with a British accent brutally executing an American photojournalist who was kidnapped in Syria two years ago.

Graphic footage of the execution appeared in an video titled: ‘A Message to the U.S.’, in which an apparently coerced James Wright Foley, 40, describes America as his true killers for using airstrikes to assist Kurdish forces in recapturing the Mosul Dam from ISIS militants.

Foley – who went missing in 2012 while working for the Global Post news agency in Syria – is then beheaded with a small knife over a period of seven minutes by a masked man dressed all in black.

The executioner, who speaks directly to the camera in what appears to be a London accent, then warns that a second captured American journalist will be killed if the U.S. doesn’t halt the airstrikes.

Speaking after the video emerged, Foley’s mother Diane issued a statement saying that she and her husband John have ‘never been prouder’ of their son, who they say gave his life to expose the suffering of the Syrian people.

Dershowitz: Perry Indictment ‘What Happens in Totalitarian Societies’

The indictment of Texas Republican Gov. Rick Perry over abuse of power and coercion is reminiscent of the way that political dissent was handled in the Soviet Union, legal scholar and Harvard Law professor Alan Dershowitz told Newsmax TV’s “America’s Forum.”

Dershowitz, who make clear he would never vote for Rick Perry, said Monday the governor’s indictment was driven by politics and is representative of “what happens in totalitarian societies.”

He said disagreement with Perry’s actions is “not the basis of what a criminal charge should be,” adding that Americans have the ability to “vote against him” if they don’t like his actions.

Dershowitz, who calls himself a “liberal Democrat,” said he doesn’t “approve of [Perry’s] views on most matters, certainly on social matters.” However, he said Perry’s actions were “not the basis of what a criminal charge should be,” and explained the indictment was “political in nature, and that’s why I’m so opposed to it.”

The Gateway Pundit can now confirm from two local St. Louis sources that police Officer Darren Wilson suffered facial fractures during his confrontation with deceased 18 year-old Michael Brown. Officer Wilson clearly feared for his life during the incident that led to the shooting death of Brown. This was after Michael Brown and his accomplice Dorian Johnson robbed a local Ferguson convenience store.

Jersey native Morgan Hoffmann squeaks into The Barclays in his home state

Jersey native Morgan Hoffmann squeaks into The Barclays in his home state

By Brett Cyrgalis

August 18, 2014 | 9:32pm

Morgan Hoffmann couldn’t even bear to watch.

The Wyckoff, NJ, native knew what was on the line last week at the Wyndham Championship in Greensboro, N.C., coming into the final event before the FedEx Cup holding the No. 118 spot in the points standings.

With only the Top 125 moving on to The Barclays, starting on Thursday at Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus, N.J., Hoffmann needed a solid finish to ensure his appearance at the course he grew up just one town over from. And yet after celebrating his 25th birthday last Monday, he went out and missed the cut.

So he spent the weekend in North Carolina, pounding balls on the range, hitting putts into dusk — and never, ever, tuning in to see how the tournament was going.

“It was incredibly frustrating,” Hoffmann said on Monday, walking between the clubhouse and the range at Ridgewood with an air of confidence, knowing he snuck into his hometown event, and knowing he’ll have a gaggle of hometown support.

“I grew up a town over and I really wanted to make it,” Hoffmann said. “I’m just excited I’m here now and I get a chance.”

How a Bergen course landed big-time golf

THE RECORD

On an October day back in 1935, a few caddies at Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus presented a seemingly ridiculous challenge to the young assistant pro.

They knew Byron Nelson was good. But they didn’t think he could hit the narrow flagpole from the patio behind the clubhouse. Today there’s a plaque on the stone patio that marks the spot from which Nelson, one of the legends of the game, hit that flagpole on his second try.

It’s just part of Ridgewood’s rich history, one that the venerable club will build on this week when it hosts The Barclays for the third time.

The top-ranked golfers in the world — including Rory McIlroy, Adam Scott, Phil Mickelson and Rickie Fowler — will be at Ridgewood this week to compete in the first event of the PGA Tour’s playoffs. The purse is $8 million, with $1.44 million going to the winner.

Ridgewood has hosted the Ryder Cup (1935), the U.S. Amateur (1974), the U.S. Senior Open (1990) and the Senior PGA Championship (2001). But when the FedEx Cup playoffs and The Barclays first arrived at Ridgewood in 2008, it was the storied club’s first foray into big-time, modern tournament golf. And for a long time, it looked as if Ridgewood might not get that opportunity.

Ridgewood’s manager settling into new role

In her first four months as Ridgewood’s new village manager, resident Roberta Sonenfeld has struck a different tone in local government, with the help of her private sector background and eager-to-learn, hands-on approach to the job.

Sonenfeld has already had one-on-one meetings with more than 60 village employees from several departments, including health, fire, police and finance, with plans to meet with all roughly 270 individuals who work in village government.

“I think the morale is improving. I think that she took the time to meet with everyone and find out what’s needed, what’s happening,” said Supervisor of Health Dawn Cetrulo, who has already had her one-on-one with Sonenfeld. “I think she’s listening. She’s talking to each of us and making a lot of changes, a lot of positive change.”

“We (recently) had a staff meeting,” added Cetrulo, “and you could just tell that the feeling in the room was positive. It was a nice experience.”

The public has experienced a difference, too: Sonenfeld brought brownies to this Wednesday’s council meeting.

Readers says The fact is, people that take issue with our elected officials tend to be activists and serial volunteers.

I find it interesting that Council apologists assume that anyone that disagrees with them is lazy and ignorant. After all, we didn’t run for Council ourselves and we don’t serve on the Planning Board so therefore all we must do is put signs on our lawn and complain.

The fact is, people that take issue with our elected officials tend to be activists and serial volunteers. We tend to take enough time to formulate an educated opinion on the issues that face our town. We also tend to act on those opinions by attending meetings, participating in the process and yes, posting here. Reader says businesses that are able to pay the rent and succeed will determine what you see in the storefronts.

The CBD tenants (of current buildings) change due to markets and the residents can piss and moan all they want, but the reality is, the businesses that are able to pay the rent and succeed will determine what you see in the storefronts.
In my 45 years living in town, I have seen a few changes in ‘retail’.

No more Drapkins, no more Winchells, no more Al & Harrys, no more Sealfons, no more MacHughes, all of which were great stores and fell victim to the malls.

We used to have a liquor store on many corners.

Every corner on franklin had multiple gas stations (Phillips 66, Amoco, Texaco, arco, Texaco, mobil(2), exxon, Sinclair, etc, all of which are gone. (a few gone from godwin as well)

Who was foolish enough to pay the going rate for rent? Banks, nail salons, restaurants, or wives of rich residents who wanted to ‘play store’.

Its an ever evolving mix, and the market will determine things, not those who choose to opine on ‘what kind of stores are good for the CBD”.

Nadler Chevrolet, brogan Cadillac, ken smith Lincoln, and the buick dealer, all gone. (this IS one are that resident input should be welcomed if the property owners request zoning changes)
If I owned a retail store, I’d take advantage of the foot traffic generated by the restaurant trade at nite. Unfortunately, most of these dummies are closed!

Ferguson protesters: The peaceful, the elders, the looters, and the ‘militants’

Ferguson protesters: The peaceful, the elders, the looters, and the ‘militants’
By Emily Wax-Thibodeaux and DeNeen L. Brown August 18 at 11:17 PM

FERGUSON, Mo. — On one corner of a battered stretch of West Florissant Avenue, the epicenter of ongoing protests, young men pull dark scarves up over their mouths and lob molotov cocktails at police from behind makeshift barricades built of bricks and wood planks. They call the gasoline-filled bottles “poor man’s bombs.”

The young men yell expletives and, with a rebel’s bravado, speak about securing justice for Michael Brown, the black teen fatally shot Aug. 9 by a white police officer, “by any means necessary.”They are known here as “the militants” — a faction inhabiting the hard-core end of a spectrum that includes online organizers and opportunistic looters — and their numbers have been growing with the severity of their tactics since the shooting.

Each evening, hundreds gather along West Florissant in what has become the most visible and perilous ritual of this St. Louis suburb’s days of frustration following Brown’s death. Dozens have been arrested, many injured by tear-gas canisters and rubber bullets fired by a police force dressed in riot gear and armed with assault rifles.

But the demonstrators are as diverse as their grievances — and in their methods of addressing them.

Some of the men are from the area — Ferguson or surrounding towns also defined in part by the gulf separating the mostly white law enforcement agencies from a mistrusting African American public. Many others — it is hard to quantify the percentage — have arrived by bus and by car from Chicago, Detroit, Brooklyn and elsewhere.

Obama’s Attention to Border Crisis Outrages African-Americans

Obama’s Attention to Border Crisis Outrages African-Americans
Sunday, 17 Aug 2014 03:10 PM
By Todd Beamon

President Barack Obama’s attention to the illegal immigration crisis, which could lead him to issue executive orders early next week to delay deportations and grant work permits to as many as 6 million migrants, has soured many of his core voters: African-Americans.

Many blacks, who twice voted for Obama in record numbers to elect him — and keep him — as the nation’s first African-American president, are angry that he has neglected the problems facing inner cities while working on the border crisis.

These big-city ills include chronic black unemployment, poor housing conditions, steep prices for food and services, low high-school graduation rates, and high crime rates.

“Black people are being played,” Herman Cain, the 2012 Republican presidential candidate, told Newsmax. “They have been taken for granted by Democrats for decades. Now they’ve reached a boiling point with this whole crisis on the border, and some of them are speaking out.”

By all accounts and as reported by Brietbart.com, the number of Border Patrol arrests of illegal immigrants since Oct. 1 stands at 174,000 and is still rising.

Cain and other African-American conservatives charge that Obama “manufactured this crisis” through a 2012 executive order that created the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.

The DACA ended the threat of deportation for as many as 670,000 illegals between the ages of 15 and 31 who were brought to the U.S. before their 16th birthday. In June, the administration extended the program for two more years.

“We’ve got a real crisis in every major inner city in this country,” Cain said. “They’ve done exactly nothing to understand the problem, let alone do anything about it.”

Anita MonCrief, board member of the Black Conservatives Fund, told Newsmax that African-Americans have long been “sour on Obama.”
