The answer to these and many other questions relating to obtaining health information is the Valley Hospital’s Consumer Health Information Service as provided by the highly trained staff of the hospital’s Medical Library.Claudia Allocco
The Valley Hospital’s Consumer Health Information Service is available to all members of the communities the hospital serves. A person may take advantage of the service by simply phoning in a request or stopping by the main desk of the library located on the first floor of the hospital’s Phillips Building. Requests can also be e-mailed. The service is both confidential and free of charge.
“We believe that by providing the public with up-to-date and comprehensive information about illnesses and associated treatment options, we assist them to be better informed about their health-care” said Claudia Allocco, M.L.S., Director of Library Services. “It is well known that when a person knows more about a subject, they can feel more confident about their decision. In addition, many of our users tell us that the service allows them to relieve anxiety and stress at a time when they may be very vulnerable.”

Reader says Teachers need readjust expectations with reality!
Reader says Teachers need readjust expectations with reality!
I don’t agree with everything Christie does but I give him a lot of credit for taking on the teachers’ union. That alone will guarantee him my vote! Despite the constant claims of it being all about the children, it is really all about the teachers.
They need to come to grips with reality and recognize that those of us in the private sector are hurting and many of us have lost jobs and/or are underemployed and are really struggling to hold onto our homes. Property taxes are killing us. Time to readjust your expectations with reality!

Readers not buying BOE school taxes have gone up less than home prices data
Thed , “If the conclusion is meant to be that school taxes have gone up less than home prices, it’s comparing apples and oranges. The comparison is irrelevant.
What they did not show was the 1978 school population vs current day. The BOE keeps saying how large an increase there has been in enrollment over the past few years as an excuse fir continuous expansions, but it is nowhere near the baby boom peak.
.”
Also the school cost data most noticeably excludes debt service, which is not insignificant

Reader says Valley has one of the lowest charity care rates of all NJ hospitals
Valley has one of the lowest charity care rates of all NJ hospitals, that has been the case for a long time.
Some numbers at this link: https://www.nj.gov/health/charitycare/documents/sfy2012ccs.pdf
The numbers show how much charity care reimbursement each NJ hospital received.
Compare Valley there to others, even smaller hospitals such as Holy Name (361 beds) and Chilton(260 beds). You can also look at other years online and will find Valley provides among the least charity care of any NJ hospital.
You can also view numbers there for charity care at HUMC, also for Bergen Regional Med Center in Paramus and others.
