Ridgewood Library Reimagine ,”has no clear vision. It’s on a funding grab”

 Resident Steve Kim said in the group “It takes a Ridgewood Village ”  on comments he made at the Wednesday nights Village Council Meeting about proper planning  :

“My public comment regards to the Library at the Village Council meeting last evening. Because Library didn’t do proper planning and needs analysis, it has no clear vision. It’s on a funding grab. I’m personally confused as to what it’s doing. It can update the place, but why gut renovate to essentially offer the same services as now? I hope the Village doesn’t get stuck funding unnecessary projects…”

Qualified individual must have current NJDEP C-3 and S-3 or higher licenses.  Strong leadership skills required, as well as at least 10 years’ experience in treatment plant maintenance/repair/upkeep/operation for a 5 MG permitted plant with a liquid waste acceptance program.

Skip the Elevator Wednesday: 3 Reasons that Every Step Counts on National Take the Stairs Day

Ridgewood NJ,  Wednesday, January 8, is National Take the Stairs Day and the American Lung Association in New Jersey is encouraging everyone to skip the elevator and take the stairs.

“Stair climbing burns two to three times more calories than walking or running. In fact, just casually climbing stairs requires 8-11 calories of energy per minute,” said Karen Isky, senior development director for the Lung Association. “Also, stair climbing lets you exercise without a gym or any equipment. Just take the stairs at home, at work or while shopping.”

Fact check: The U.S. Army is NOT contacting anyone regarding the draft. If you are receiving texts, phone calls or direct messages about a military draft, they are not official communications from the U.S. Army.

The U.S. Army does not control the draft. Per the Selective Service System, the agency that oversees the draft, in the event that a national emergency necessitates a draft, Congress and the president would need to pass official legislation to authorize a draft.

Ridgewood NJ, Late last summer a reporter employed by The Record newspaper, submitted an Open Public Records Act (OPRA) request to the Village Clerk’s office that asked for some information from all five elected Council members.  Four of the five complied in a timely fashion, as required BY LAW.  Councilman Jeffrey Voigt, however, delayed his response.  When he finally did respond, he included a fictitious narrative that was not what the reporter had requested.  Actually, even if his narrative had been factual, this would not have been in compliance with OPRA, as you are not supposed to CREATE DOCUMENTS when supplying information via the OPRA process.  The fact that Councilman Voigt’s response was full of untruths just compounded the violation.

SINGLE USE PLASTIC BAG BAN NOW IN EFFECT IN THE VILLAGE OF RIDGEWOOD

Ridgewood NJ, As a reminder, the Village of Ridgewood’s ban on single use plastic bags took effect on January 1, 2020.  All supermarkets, restaurants, street fairs and farmer’s markets are prohibited from handing out single use plastic bags.  Plastic bags used for garbage, pet waste, prescriptions, dry cleaning, newspapers, as well as those used to contain loose meat, fish, fruits, vegetables, bulk items and bakery goods are exempt from this ban.  We encourage Ridgewood residents to bring their own reusable shopping bags with them and thank you for helping us to preserve the environment.

UPDATE : RIDGEWOOD CHRISTMAS TREE PICKUP

Ridgewood NJ, The Parks Division will be picking up Christmas trees, following the same schedule as last year. This schedule follows a Tuesday/Eastside and Thursday/Westside pattern with trees being picked up on the Eastside of the Village curbside on Tuesdays, January 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th. Trees will then be picked up on the Westside of the Village curbside on Thursdays, January 9th, 16th, 23rd and 30th between the hours of 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.  Please be sure that your Christmas trees are not placed in the street.

Those residents wishing to drop off Christmas trees may bring them to the designated location at the Graydon Pool parking lot anytime from January 6 through 30, 2020.

Ridgewood NJ, According to Internal Revenue Service (IRS) data released last week, New Jersey experienced an outflow of nearly $3.2 billion in Individual Income Tax Return Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) for tax year 2017-2018.

Yet, Governor Phil Murphy remains committed to a millionaire’s tax. With Lieutenant Governor Sheila Oliver standing behind him, the Governor cited the tax as beneficial to prepare for a “rainy day.”
