Ridgewood NJ, on the morning of Wednesday, January 15, Ridgewood Police Department (RPD) patrol officers took a Toyota Tacoma driver into custody after the individual failed a field sobriety test. The vehicle, which displayed significant front-end damage, including a missing right front tire, had drawn the attention of multiple motorists who called 911 to report it.
The Incident
Numerous emergency calls described the heavily damaged pickup truck driving through Ridgewood, raising concerns about the driver’s condition. Responding RPD officers quickly located the vehicle in a shopping center parking lot near 263 Franklin Avenue.
After engaging with the driver and administering a field sobriety test, officers determined the driver was unfit to operate the vehicle.
Immediate Actions Taken
- Arrest: The driver was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI).
- Vehicle Removal: A flatbed tow truck transported the damaged Toyota Tacoma to a nearby impound yard.
- Processing: The suspect was transported to Ridgewood Police Department headquarters for further processing.
