Ridgewood NJ, The Village’s Parks Department employees are cutting up the trees which they take down into logs, and offering them to Ridgewood residents for free at the Recycling Center. This saves the Village money, because we don’t have to pay to dispose of the trees which are cut down, and it also provides residents with free firewood for their homes. You may pick up the logs at the Recycling Center, during their regular business hours.
How much is this really saving the taxpayers. Because when you add in the labor rate & How much the maintenance for equipment is . It’s a little bit. Some think this is more about putting a feather in some ones hat. This is nothing new in thinking.Many other towns cut the tree down where it is , and stacked up and left on curb line for the residence to take. This is all well and good as long as it doesn’t take away from all the other responsibilities the parks at Bob and have. And being short on staff well At times you need to look at the big picture. Looks good on paper doesn’t it.
Wow the village has that kind of time. With the staffing being at its lowest level in years some find this interesting. As a taxpayer is this a prioritie ! That may be good fill in work from time to time.

Are the logs split? Guessing not. Just need to know if those picking them up would have to arrange for that task separately.
logs are split. It’s not like someone is there all day.
I frequent the recycle area twice a week.
I have never seen anyone splitting logs and many times there are none there.
There are people who only work in the recycle area.
My guess, when not busy, they split logs
