Ridgewood NJ, anti protester and free speech advocate William Porterfield who exercised his own right to free speech during Saturdays ,“Ridgewood for Black Liberation” is now being harassed buy some the the very protesters who claim the mantle of free speech.
According to a Facebook post in the Facebook group It Takes a Ridgewood Village , Porterfield claims,”Kathleen Sun Koo, Beth Pollak Meleski and Ariya Wink have searched out my employer and now threaten to ask that I be fired because I dared to say, “All Lives Matter”. This is how groups like BLM work. Like nazis, communists and organized crime – They try to intimidate or destroy dissenters. They protest down our street with bullhorns, making demands of what Ridgewood must do. but they try to take away anyone else’s voice. I ask that more Ridgewood residents be present at their next protest to show that Ridgewood residents, and Americans don’t cower.”
Sounds like the “filter” or “silence thy neighbor crowd” is back in action and this is a long time trick of the New Jersey political establishment whenever it tries to silence competition or dissent.

The problem of using a true identity on posting here, or anywhere else, runs the risk of retaliation, as so perfectly evidenced in this article. I say I’d like to grow up. In fact I’d like to grow old. I have little kids. I don’t want to get covid. So, yes , I wish everyone would wear masks. All of the marchers did.
Detractors of black lives matter are mostly Ill informed racists who ignore the George Floyd murder and the many black murders preceding, all caught on camera. How come no one here talks about George Floyd ? Is it easier to ignore reality and complain and change the subject, I suspect that many people on this site get their news from Fox “state tv”.

This doesn’t look like or sound like a peaceful assembly of free speech, but Organized copycats with a LEADER with Bull Horn, chanting to the gullible. If the author is going to lecture the town on constitutional law he learn about it first. The 1st amendment guarantees protection of free speech from intrusion by the government not by private actors, which includes individuals, groups and employers.
We’re all employed “at will” and if we bring disrepute on our employer or make them concerned about our values or temperament by choosing to behave like this they have every legal right to fire us. Just ask Central Park dog walker Amy Cooper how her wrongful termination lawsuit turned out.
Ironically, the 1st amendment also the guarantees “right of the people peaceably to assemble”, which is exactly what this group was doing.
