Ridgewood NJ, Exciting news for food lovers in Ridgewood—Lula, a seasonal New American restaurant, is set to open its doors soon on 28 Oak Street. Taking over the space previously occupied by Lisa’s Mediterranean Cuisine, Lula promises to bring a fresh and locally inspired dining experience to the heart of town.
A Chef Rooted in Ridgewood’s Culinary Scene
Lula is the brainchild of Ridgewood native Conor Browne, whose impressive culinary resume includes working with renowned chefs like Jonathan Waxman at NYC’s JAMS, Lauren Hirschberg at Turtle & the Wolf in Upper Montclair, Anthony Bucco at Felina and Landmark Hospitality, and Steve Christianson at St. Eve’s in Ho-Ho-Kus.
Browne’s approach to cooking is simple yet refined: letting fresh, locally sourced, and sustainable ingredients take center stage. “We’re keeping the food real simple and delicious,” he shared, adding that Lula will emphasize meats, fish, and produce from local farms and suppliers.
A Space for the Community
The restaurant, named after Browne’s daughter Lisa (her nickname is Lula), is designed to reflect his family values and love for gathering around good food. He describes the vision for Lula as a “warm and inviting space” where guests can enjoy dishes that are both elevated and approachable.
What to Expect
While specific menu details are still under wraps, diners can expect a blend of thoughtful, seasonal dishes that showcase the best of what the area’s farms and waters have to offer.
Lula is currently preparing for a soft opening in early 2025, and the buzz around town suggests it will quickly become a community favorite.
