Ridgewood NJ, there have been multiple reports of diners being hit with water bottles tossed off the Hudson Garage . Last Thursday evening around 6:30pm a group of dinners at Pearl were hit by water bottles and the Ridgewood Police were forced to respond after a 911 call was placed.
This was just the latest in a serious of events since the infamous “Flying donuts” incident and more recently someone alleged to have been hit in the head with a water bottle.
This also raises questions over the Ridgewood’s Police ability to maintain order in the central business district in an ever changing world of high density housing and large inflows of out of towners enjoying Ridgewood’s shops and restaurants.
This nonsense would come to a swift end if protective fencing was installed. Right; they can’t install protective fencing because the structural integrity of the garage would be compromised. What a joke! Pearl should sue for millions.
Another way to put an end to this bullshit is to post the security videos online so those responsible can be identified and publicly shamed.
Why can the police and town figure this out? Were they caught?
I guess no one uses water balloons or paper bags of water these days. Damn younger generation!
Protective Fencing, LOL
Moving your business back inside would also be a fix. (but just as ridiculous as fencing)
Put up security cameras and get video of the little turds.
What’s very interesting is that if they screw in fencing brackets, that may cause more cracks just like the apartment building in Florida. And no one wants to take responsibility for that. How about hiring a security officer.
Realtime video cameras with dispatcher watching them is the best solution.
There are real-time cameras in place. They need to start live streaming the video feed.
A classic example of unintended consequences. More parking equates to more crime.
most cops look at this as an aggravation and won’t get involved.. they would probably get sued for arresting one of mommy‘s babies from the West Side! I guess Indian trail was closed that day!
2021 is definitely turning out the be The Year of the Wacko. People should really pick up exercise or some other productive way of working out their frustrations instead of taking it out on other people.
Seems to me someone’s kids very bored. People if you think they’re going to have somebody sitting around watching video monitors for a parking garage Dream on.
Cameras should be installed up top, there should be a way. I just walked through the downtown this evening and frankly, the set-up is a gross mess. The way people are dressed, and the way the dining areas are arranged, why would I want to have a meal at any of the restaurants? Why spend money to see people in Ill-fitting t-shirts and bad shorts? The only place that pulls it off well is La Lanterna. I will either eat inside or not at all.
And who wants to eat food outside in this heat and humidity. Real relaxing.
When I go to a store in Glen Rock I always see a cop walking the sidewalks.
Does RPD walk through the garage at all to see who’s hanging around…?
how many police do we have on the force, and we can’t install law and order downtown? move it to a “shared service” with other towns and maybe we will get better service. What’s next – looting and robberies?
In all seriousness, with the taxes we pay you would think the police could step it up. And I know let’s always blame the police but honestly when they’re making the money they make in a town like Ridgewood, don’t forget the overtime, bank sick days to get paid out when they retire and don’t forget the treasured pension and medical. Just bring that up the next time one of them complains about having to go over there on a Friday night. We all know where the patrol cars hang out hours on end where they’re stealing time and sleeping on the clock should we take pictures and post!?!?
