Lodi NJ, according to Assemblyman Kevin J. Rooney the latest Press Release from, “New Jersey Department of Motor Vehicles” has extended physical closure dates till the end of July. The extensions are now deeply impacting New Jerseyans who can’t sell their vehicle privately. People who want to sell their car privately may need to sell their car for extra cash to pay their bills or to upgrade in order to take advantage of the deeply discounted new car dealers offers. Unfortunately they do not have the ability to so. How do you transfer title or register for plates on a private sale without motor vehicle being open?

New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission must offer the ability to issue new drivers permits to residents who recently celebrated their birthdays and want to start driving. They may need the license for their job or to help their family during these uncertain times. New drivers need to go to the supermarket or the family doctor and will not be able to do so. Extending these dates are an issue for many New Jersey families , we hope the Governor Phil Murphy and New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission reviews these concerns now and provides a pathway quickly to resolve these and many more uncertainties facing our residents.

“All New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission agencies, road testing, and inspection facilities remain closed to the public as a measure to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
Headquarters (TOC) and online services will continue operations. Essential Personnel should continue to report to work as previously directed. All driver licenses, non-driver IDs, vehicle registrations, and inspection stickers expiring before May 31 have been extended by two months. Most renewals, replacements, changes of address, and other transactions can be processed online at “

  1. No it hasn’t, it extended expiration deadlines for license, registrations and inspections. Get the facts straight before posting fake news.

  2. @JANE…. who are you listening to? Tarzan? You cant sell your fucking car privately if the new owner can’t take the title to the DMV and get a NEW TITLE and NEW PLATES. FTARD!

  3. You are right, DMV is closed but he states in this article that the physical locations are closed through end of July. That’s incorrect. As is now they are planning on opening physical locations on May 26.

  4. Governor Murphy is terrible

  5. How do you get tags and plates for a car you bought for a private owner
