UPDATE: New Jersey State Police : Drive Carefully Expect Rush Hour Snow and Wintry Mix

Ridgewood NJ, the New Jersey State Police  are expecting snow showers in the northern and central parts of the state today till 1pm. The rest of the state will see a rain or a wintry mix.

UPDATE: Occasional light snow is expected to continue into the afternoon. There is also a chance for spotty light freezing rain. The precipitation should begin to taper off from west to east after 2 pm. Additional snowfall accumulation will be light and under an inch. Untreated roadways will remain slick, especially where temperatures remain at or just below freezing. Use extra caution if traveling today.

Ridgewood : Snow and sleet before 10am, then a chance of rain and snow. High near 38. Wind chill values between 25 and 35. Northeast wind 5 to 13 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Total daytime snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

If you need to drive, allow yourself extra time to get to your destination.
Observe the posted weather related speed restrictions.
When on the road, increase your following distance enough so that you’ll have plenty of time to stop for vehicles ahead of you.
Don’t crowd a snow plow or travel beside the plow truck.
Snow plows travel slowly, make wide turns, stop often, overlap lanes, and exit the road frequently.
