During the the Public comment from 2 parents at tonight’s BOE meeting allege that an RHS coach routinely subjected athletes to emotional and mental abuse. Complaints were filed with the BOE and no response has been received to date according to the complainants.

The Board quickly shut down the comments ,claiming they cant speak about personnel issues during open meetings.

Residents claimed the athletes who complained waited for the season to be over before they issued complaints for fear of retaliation and have thus far, been ignored. Dr. Fishbien did not look happy with the allegations going public.

Reader claims , its “quid pro quo” for the Ridgewood School Board

cottageplaceBOE_theridgewoodblog

“Wilson was appointed, not elected, four years ago. Mary Micale fought hard in Wilson’s favor to have her appointed. At the time, Mary vouched for Wilson saying they worked together for years; YWCA and Foundation. That alone should recuse Wilson form interviewing and nominating this candidate. Instead, she lead the interview. It was so obvious that Mary was given information other candidates didn’t have. Clearly, her interview was coach and scripted.

Now it’s time to return the favor.”

“Mary Micale was helped by a board member and therefore given an unfair advantage over the other nine applicants. I hope our BOE will not ignore that and and by doing so, allow this process to be tainted by one of the four current board members. We deserve transparency on our board of education… independent thinkers, not predetermined allies.”

Reader says the Board majority needs to deliver (to special interest groups); commit to multi million dollar projects and move the election back to November

cottage_place_2_theridgewoodblog

” Let’s speak openly about the real reason this Board wants Mary Micale and the importance of this open position (which is only a 6 month position). In the next six months before a member can be elected, the Board majority needs to deliver on their promise (to special interest groups); commit to multi million dollar projects and move the election back to November so residents won’t be allowed to vote or change the school budget. None of what they are planing will directly impact the children’s programs, education or stop the decline in school ranking. Residents pockets will be tuned inside out and we will all be financially crippled by debt. WAKE UP RIDGEWOOD! “

“I watched the 10 interviews. It’s clear Saurabh Dani is the right choice. Mary Micale kept repeating she’s a good fit because she’s good at completing what she’s told to do. Then, when asked if she had a conflict of interest her reply was…”well, not really.”

We don’t need a puppet or personal assistant on the Board. doing what your told, being a gopher, isn’t a fit. “Not really” having a conflict is the most suspicious thing a person can say.”

Reader suggests it is time for a Larger Board of Education

cottageplaceBOE_theridgewoodblog

” I would love a candidate who thought he or she was a representative for the public and not a rubber stamp for the administration. People don’t run because it means a campaign and some monetary expenditures. I think we need a 7 member Board. I believe we have the smallest board for a District our size. A larger Board might mean some diversity of opinion and each board member would not be liaison to so many committees . Same laison, same opinions, same outcomes. “

BOE

“We can all watch the same meeting, hear the same conversation and yet come to different conclusions.

I heard a board that wants to make sure the new member has the time to do the job, they don’t want to end up with another new board member that misses meetings and doesn’t have time to serve on committees. The next board member needs to pull their weight.

Reader says ,”parents, are the cause of bullying and everything else that is ailing our children”

Ridgewood Schools schools were cleared of the shelter in place Order

” The adults , parents, are the cause of bullying and everything else that is ailing our children. It is the adults who can’t get enough “screen time;” at stop signs you see them looking at their phones behind the wheel before the lightchanges; adults are ALWAYS on the phone, even when they are walking their dogs. What do you expect from the kids.
65 years ago when I was a kid, you called another kid for example, “fatty fatty two by four couldn’t get through the bathroom door etc. The the fat kid did not commit suicide, did not quit school, went right on living his life. Soon the taunt was forgotten. The taunt,” fatty fatty etc. could not go viral because there was no internet, assholes, so it could be forgotten about by the perpetrators as well as the victims. YOU PARENTS are TO BLAME FOR YOUR CHILDREN’S SUICIDES AND DRUGS AND EVERYTHING ELSE. LOOK IN THE MIRROR. ( Kids take drugs to escape the pain from social media, from the internet, smart phone.) “

Ridgewood BOE Withholds Information on Facilities Meetings

Ridgewood NJ, resident Steve Kim recounts his recent OPRA experience with the Ridgewood Board of Education .

OPRA is used when the requestor wants to gain access to government records and wants to invoke the OPRA statute, which provides a statutory right of access to government records and holds a records custodian to a response deadline.

What does this mean?  The requestor must choose to submit an OPRA request.  Custodians do not decide when requestor must use OPRA and cannot force requestors to submit an OPRA request

Ridgewood Celebrates 125 Years : Cottage Place added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1998.

Ridgewood NJ, This year Ridgewood, NJ is celebrating its 125th anniversary! To commemorate the occasion, the Village of Ridgewood is holding a series of events to highlight various moments from the past, and to look forward to our future. On this page we will be posting your favorite memories and experiences. Watch this space for announcements, trivia, and stories about the village’s past, present, and future.

The building at 49 Cottage Place, was built in 1894 and remains a symbol of Ridgewood’s beginnings. As a result of a growing population accelerated by nearby railroads, Ridgewood needed a newer and larger schoolhouse. The first vote, overwhelmingly positive, called for a wooden building. Town wives convinced their husbands that wood would be unsafe, and the town found enough money to build the current structure, known today as the Education Center. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1998.
