Ridgewood NJ, On Sunday 4/5/2020 there was a major structure fire at Bagelicious in the central business district and thankfully firefighters were able to rescue a resident that was trapped in their apartment and they are going to be okay. In the midst of this large scale event, water was flowing into the basement of @ridgewoodcycle and once this was realized firefighters were able to mitigate the problem and get the water out of their basement.

Fire Fighters Respond to Car Fire Garden State Parkway in Twp of Washington

Twp of Washington NJ, on Good Friday April 10th ,the Washington Township Fire Department Responded to a car fire today on the Garden State Parkway Northbound just before exit 168. All occupants were out of the car and uninjured. Woodcliff Lake Fire Department assisted in the event Township Fire needed additional water as their are no fire hydrants in the Parkway.

CDC Extends No Sail Order for All Cruise Ships

Ridgewood NJ, The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced today the extension of a No Sail Order for all cruise ships.

“We are working with the cruise line industry to address the health and safety of crew at sea as well as communities surrounding U.S. cruise ship points of entry,” said CDC Director Robert Redfield.  “The measures we are taking today to stop the spread of COVID-19 are necessary to protect Americans, and we will continue to provide critical public health guidance to the industry to limit the impacts of COVID-19 on its workforce throughout the remainder of this pandemic.”

National Guard Deployed As Paramus Nursing Home Reports13 Deaths from COVID-19

PARMAUS NJ, The National Guard is sending help to the New Jersey Veterans’ Home at Paramus where 10 residents have died from the coronavirus.  The National Guard is sending combat medics and EMTs are among the 40 Guard members who were sent to help. Currently over 20 residents are battling the virus, and nearly 20 staff have also been infected.

Bergen Medical Company Agrees to Pay $43 Million to Resolve Criminal Investigation Concerning Misbranded Endoscopes

Montvale NJ,  Pentax Medical Company will pay $43 million to resolve criminal charges based on the company’s shipment of four types of endoscopes for 18 months without FDA-cleared instructions for use and the company’s failure to file timely reports of two infections associated with its endoscopes, the Department of Justice announced today.

Pentax was charged in a criminal complaint filed today in Newark federal court with distributing misbranded medical devices in interstate commerce in violation of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FDCA). Pentax has entered into a three-year deferred prosecution agreement (DPA) that will allow it to avoid conviction if it complies with the reform and enhanced compliance requirements outlined in the agreement. As a result of the conduct outlined in the criminal complaint, Pentax has agreed to pay a $40 million criminal fine and to forfeit $3 million.

The Ridgewood Arts Foundation (RAF) hopes this note finds you and your families well, and that you are finding many artistic projects to embark upon as we are all sequestered at home. During this unprecedented time, RAF feels the obligation to help our community maintain a semblance of normalcy and routine. Therefore, we are honored to announce that we will be moving forward with our Spring 2020 scholarships and grants program for students, individual artists and arts organizations. The Spring application deadline has been extended to June 1, 2020. Middle school, high school or college students who are involved in fine or performing arts, and adult artists and/or arts organizations with a connection to Ridgewood are encouraged to apply.

Tree Tumbles on Single Family Home in Glen Rock

Glen Rock NJ, no injuries were reported by the occupants of a single family home located in the 300 block of Ackerman Avenue, Glen Rock after a municipally owned tree crashed into it on Thursday afternoon, 04/09. Glen Rock Police and Glen Rock Fire Department responded to the incident. The fallen tree appeared to have caused minimal structural damage.
