Jersey City Reopens Farmers’ Markets

Jersey City NJ, Mayor Steven M. Fulop announced today the latest step toward carefully reopening the municipality after a nearly two-month lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic with a new policy that allows farmers’ markets to reopen, providing healthy, organic produce to residents in all parts of the city. Maybe other municipalities will follow his lead .

The Department of Justice today filed a Statement of Interest in a Virginia federal court concerning the First Amendment’s freedom of religion in support of Lighthouse Fellowship Church (Lighthouse), a congregation in Chincoteague Island, Virginia, that serves, among others, recovering drug addicts and former prostitutes.

The Statement of Interest is part of Attorney General William P. Barr’s April 27, 2020 Initiative directing Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights, Eric Dreiband, and the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan, Matthew Schneider, to review state and local policies to ensure that civil liberties are protected during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Governor Phil Murphy New Executive Order Boom for “Mail Order brides”

Trenton NJ, Governor Phil Murphy today signed Executive Order No. 135, suspending in-person requirements for receipt of a marriage license and marriage ceremonies, and for the receipt of working papers for minors.

“Our current public health emergency requires us to adjust our processes to protect public health and safety,” said Governor Murphy. “Even in uncertain times, we must allow important milestones, like marriages or youth seeking their first job, to move forward in a safe, efficient manner.”

Jersey City Man Charged with Sexual Assault of Under Age Rutherford Girl

Rutherford NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of TYRIEF MARTIN (DOB: 05/15/1989; single; unemployed) on two counts of Sexual Assault and one count of Endangering The Welfare Of A Child. The arrest is a result of a joint investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti, the Rutherford Police Department under the direction of Chief John R. Russo, the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office under the direction of Sheriff Anthony Cureton, and the Jersey City Police Department under the direction of Chief Mike Kelly.

Wayne Police Shooting Victim Identified

Wayne NJ, The Attorney General’s Office is conducting an investigation of a fatal officer-involved shooting that occurred yesterday, April 26, in Wayne, N.J. One male civilian sustained fatal injuries.

The decedent has been identified as Bradley G. Pullman, 48, of Beacon, N.Y.
