Beginning Monday, June 21, NY Waterway resumed ferry service from Edgewater, N.J. NY Waterway joined the Borough of Edgewater and Borough of Fort Lee Thursday to announce the long-awaited return of the ferry, which will provide service to Midtown and also to Downtown (which is new for the Edgewater ferry service).

Edgewater NJ, the US Department of Homeland Security arrested an Edgewater man they said threatened to kill Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in social media posts. Carlos Alejandro Tariche, 22, was charged on December 20 with one count of interstate communications containing threats to injure. Court documents stated that Tariche posted, “We need to kill all ICE agents,” to one of his Twitter accounts on December 11. He is also accused of questioning why mass shootings do not occur at ICE buildings and quoting a phrase regarding murdering people popularized by a recently released film. Investigators located Tariche by examining his social media accounts to determine where he was logging in. He faces a maximum of five years in prison.

Edgewater NJ, A Bergen County, New Jersey, man was arrested this morning after using his Twitter account to threaten to kill agents of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito announced.
Carlos Alejandro Tariche, 22, of Edgewater, New Jersey, was arrested by agents of U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), and charged by complaint with one count of interstate communications containing threats to injure. He is scheduled to appear this afternoon before U.S. Magistrate Judge Cathy L. Waldor in Newark federal court.

The arrests are the result an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti.
In October 2018, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigations Squad began an investigation into potential criminal activity by Alexis MERCEDES and Katherine CASTILLO. During the course of the investigation, it was determined that MERCEDES and CASTILLO were providing fictitious and/or fraudulent identification in order to establish residency. On Tuesday, February 12, 2019, BCPO detectives executed a search warrant at MERCEDES’s and CASTILLO’s residence in Edgewater, New Jersey as well as two vehicles used by them.
