Fair Lawn NJ, two (2) unoccupied, parked vehicles were heavily damaged by a large tree that fell in the 38-00 block of Brookside Avenue, Fair Lawn early Tuesday afternoon, 11/28. Electrical and communications services to a nearby home was disrupted when the tree fell. Fair Lawn Police Department and PSE&G’s Electrical Division responded immediately to the incident.
Fair Lawn NJ, a two (2) vehicle Tuesday morning, 11/28, collision at the intersection of Hartley Place and Rosalie Street in Fair Lawn required the services of Fair Lawn’s Rescue Squad to extricate the driver of a minivan involved in the crash. The freed victim was transported by a County of Bergen EMS ambulance to a local hospital with injuries that did not appear life threatening in nature. No other injuries were reported in the mishap. Both vehicles were towed from the scene. Fair Lawn Fire Company #3 also responded to the incident along with Fair Lawn Police Department.
Fair Lawn NJ, Eastbound and westbound Broadway in Fair Lawn were both closed temporarily late Saturday night, 11/04, following a three (3) vehicle collision at the intersection of Broadway and Plaza Road. Multiple injuries were reported in the crash; at least two (2) individuals required ambulance transportation to local hospitals. Fair Lawn Police was assisted by Elmwood Park Police and Saddle Brook Police with traffic control. Fair Lawn Fire Department Company #3 and Fair Lawn Rescue also responded to the scene. All three (3) vehicles involved in the incident sustained heavy damage and were towed from the scene. The crash remains under investigation by Fair Lawn Police Department.
Glen Rock NJ, the driver of a tractor trailer allegedly disregarded a stop sign while exiting Route 208 southbound at Harristown Road, Glen Rock on Friday evening, 11/03, and collided with a sedan carrying at least three (3) occupants. Glen Rock EMS reported three (3) injuries at the scene, with two (2) victims requiring ambulance transportation to Hackensack University Center’s main campus. The wrecked sedan was removed from the scene by a flatbed tow truck. Fair Lawn Police assisted Glen Rock Police with traffic control.
Fair Lawn NJ, an early Friday afternoon, 09/08, water main break resulted in the complete closure of an access ramp to and from northbound Route 208, and the relocation of ambulances belonging to the Fair Lawn Volunteer Ambulance Corps. The break occurred at the intersection of Plaza Road and Cooper’s Way shortly before 12:30 PM. Water flow was quickly shut down, but not before it had created a gaping hole in the highway access ramp, which also limited access to the nearby Fair Lawn Volunteer Ambulance Corps headquarters/garage. Fair Lawn Police officers provided traffic control throughout the repair process
Fair Lawn NJ, a Wednesday afternoon, 07/26, single vehicle rollover crash on Route 208 northbound under Fair Lawn Avenue, Fair Lawn resulted in the vehicle’s driver sustaining non-life threatening injuries which required ambulance transport to a nearby hospital. The vehicle was righted and removed from the scene by a flatbed tow truck.
Saddle River NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrests of STEVEN RUGELES (DOB: 01/06/1993; married; unemployed) of 1204 Fairmount Avenue, Elizabeth, NJ; SANTIAGO CAMARGO-ROJAS (DOB: 05/03/1999; single; unemployed) of 738 Seaport Drive, Elizabeth, NJ; and NICHOLAS BUITRAGO-GRILLO (DOB: 2/01/2000; single; unemployed) of 738 Seaport Drive, Elizabeth, NJ on charges of conspiracy to commit burglary, money laundering, receiving stolen property, possession of false government documents and possession of burglar tools. The arrest is the result of a joint investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and several other Bergen County police departments.
Fair Lawn NJ, one (1) injury was reported following a two (2) vehicle Wednesday morning, 07/19, collision at the intersection of Fair Lawn Avenue and 5th Street, Fair Lawn. The victim was transported by ambulance to a local hospital. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
Paterson NJ, a 911 telephone call received by the Paterson Police Department from an individual who witnessed a woman dumping a child strapped in a car seat into the Passaic River triggered a massive multi-agency search on Monday morning, 07/17. Water, air (drone), and land searches were conducted for over one (1) hour before they were terminated after the witness’ account was not able to be verified. The search included , Fair Lawn Police Department, Elmwood Park Police, Elmwood Park Fire Dept, NJ Paterson Police Department, Paterson Fire Department ,Fair Lawn Rescue Squad, Fair Lawn Fire Department, Fair Lawn Fire Company #4 ,Fair Lawn Fire Company #3, Fair Lawn Fire Company 2 ,and Passaic County Sheriff’s Office.
Fair Lawn NJ, a multiple alarm Wednesday morning, 06/21, house fire in the 2500 block of Kipp Street, Fair Lawn drew a large fire department response. The fire, which reportedly started in the home’s kitchen, was quickly knocked down by Fair Lawn Fire Department. Heavy black smoke from the blaze could be seen blocks away. No injuries were reported.
Fair Lawn NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrests of MICHAEL D’ANGELO (DOB: 7/09/1972; married; construction worker) of 115 E. 235th Street, Bronx, NY; DANIEL RUGGIERO (DOB: 12/17/1970; single; unemployed) of 65 Arnow Avenue, Bronx, NY; DOMINICK MEMOLI (DOB: 2/03/1966; single; construction worker) of 1201 Mace Avenue, Bronx, NY; BRUNO SIMONETTI (DOB: 8/18/1980; single; unemployed) of 390 Hutchinson Boulevard, Mount Vernon, NY; ERION BESHIRI (DOB: 1/14/1988; single; unemployed) of 2026 Haight Avenue, Bronx, NY; and SIAN STAFFORD (DOB: 6/29/1994; single; unemployed) of 412 Audubon Avenue, New York, NY on charges related to a home invasion in Fair Lawn, NJ that occurred in November 2022. The arrests are the result of a joint investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Fair Lawn Police Department under the direction of Chief Glen Cauwels.
Fair Lawn NJ, a 2-door Honda Accord slammed into a church located at 22-15 Broadway (westbound Broadway), Fair Lawn late Friday night, 05/05. The vehicle’s adult driver was treated at the scene by a Fair Lawn EMS crew and released at the scene. No apparent structural damage to the church was noted. However, one (1) or more traffic control barriers filled with dirt were damaged in the crash and dirt splattered all over the church’s front facing facade. A flatbed tow truck removed the totaled Honda from the scene.
Fair Lawn NJ, Firefighters quickly extinguished a Wednesday morning, 04/05, fire that started on the second floor of a home on Ruskin Road in Fair Lawn. No injuries were reported in the incident. The single family home was unoccupied when police and firefighters arrived on the scene. An investigation is underway to determine what started the smokey blaze. Fair Lawn NJ, at 2:54 AM Sunday the Fair Lawn Fire Department was dispatched to a reported chimney fire on the 12 block of Saddle River Road. Upon arrival, Fair Lawn Fire Chief Jake Mamo reported smoke showing from the structure in what appeared to be a chimney fire that had extended into the walls of the first floor. A general alarm was transmitted. The fire was quickly extinguished and the fire companies opened up the walls to look for extension. Fair Lawn Rescue, Fair Lawn Volunteer Ambulance Corp, and the Fair Lawn Police Department also assisted on the scene. Mutual aid companies from Elmwood Park and Saddle Broom were stationed in Fair Lawn to handle any other calls. All fire units were cleared from the scene by 5:33 AM. There were no injuries to the residents or to firefighters.
