Ridgewood Kings to become a Green Way Markets

Ridgewood NJ, today, Monday, is Kings last day open . Green Way Markets are then taking Tues-Weds-Thurs to prepare Green Way’s opening on Friday. The 15,000 square foot store was built in the 1950s as a Food Fair, then taken over by Finast somewhere around 20 years later. Kings moved into the store in 1977 , The store is considered small by todays standards .

The  parent company went bankrupt and Acme Markets, a unit of Albertsons, was the top bidder in a bankruptcy auction for 27 supermarkets operated by East Coast specialty grocers Kings Food Markets and Balducci’s Food Lover’s Market, according to a press release.

The New Jersey Food Council : Warns Banning Polystyrene Packaging Threat to Food Safety

TRENTON NJ, Businesses in New Jersey are struggling to stay afloat during the COVID-19 pandemic and take-out food containers have never been more important to businesses trying to manage their costs, while adhering to safety protocols. It is for these reasons, that I cannot understand why the New Jersey Legislature would take up this issue during this emergency and ban the one type of food container that is better for the environment, more cost effective and preserves the quality and safety of its food contents over and above the alternative products.  In addition, A1978/S864 will ban all products within supermarkets that have any degree of polystyrene packaging, including some of your favorite items that you will have to shop for out of state or on-line to purchase.

Hackensack NJ, Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco is calling on PSE&G to reimburse the cost of spoiled food, medication, and perishable commercial merchandise for all New Jersey residents and businesses who lost power for more than 48 consecutive hours due to Tropical Storm Isaias. County Executive Tedesco is also calling on the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities to adopt legislation that requires utility companies to make this standard practice, putting the priorities of New Jersey residents and businesses first.

NY Governor Cuomo says “Let them eat sandwiches”
