Glen Rock Police are Looking for a black Hyundai Sonata Allegedly Involved in a Hit and Run on Harristown Road

Glen Rock NJ, on Wednesday January 13th  at  12:36 p.m. a Carlstadt man reported the the  Glen Rock Police  that his 2015 Black Chevy Camaro was struck by a hit and run vehicle while parked in the commercial parking lot at 266 Harristown Road. An unknown witness told the owner that it may have been struck by a black Hyundai Sonata, however, the witness did not remain on scene to be interviewed by the responding officer. P.O. Sarah Orsita did locate a vehicle fitting the description, however, the owner denied any involvement. Anyone who witnessed this accident and can provide the license plate number of the hit and run vehicle, as well as a description of the operator, is asked to contact the Glen Rock Police Department at (201) 652-3800.

Glen Rock Women Reports Being Followed Home by Stranger

Glen Rock NJ, on Friday January 15th at 3:48 p.m. Glen Rock Police report a resident on the 400 block of Maple Avenue reported that she was confronted in her driveway by a male subject who followed her to the front door of her residence. The man claimed he wanted to know the location of the nearest river so that he could go fishing. The resident was alarmed by the man following her and noted that he was not dressed to go fishing. The subject was described as a dark-skinned male who was well dressed in dark clothing. The man left the complainant’s property in an unknown direction prior to her calling for police assistance. No one fitting the given description was found in the area.

Glen Rock Residents Receiving Mysterious Packages

Glen Rock NJ, ALERT: The Glen Rock Police Department has been advised of packages (cell phones or similar) being delivered to homes that did not order the products. These residents are then receiving phone calls or a knock on the door from individuals who are claiming to represent a shipping company such as FEDEX, UPS or Amazon. The representative advises the resident that that package was delivered by mistake and instructs them to leave the package outside so that it can be picked up and delivered to the “correct” address.

Home Evacuated after Massive Tree Falls on Christmas Day in Glen Rock

Glen Rock NJ, All occupants were safely evacuated from a single family home in the 100 block of Glen Avenue, Glen Rock after a massive shade tree toppled into the structure at approximately 0415 hours on 12/25/2020. Glen Rock Police and Glen Rock Fire Department personnel responded to the incident. A sub-code official from the Borough of Glen Rock’s Building Department was summoned to conduct an inspection of the structure which appeared to have sustained significant damage.

Glen Rock House Flooding Caused by Leaves blocking a Storm Drain

Glen Rock NJ, Glen Rock Police report  last Monday  at 7:13 p.m. patrols, along with Glen Rock Firefighters, responded to a Southboro Lane home to investigate a flooding condition which was reported to be affecting the utilities in the home. It was determined that leaves had blocked a storm drain and caused the street to flood onto the resident’s property and into the garage and basement of the home. The fire department was able to make conditions safe and the DPW was called out to remove the leaves from the affected area before more damage occurred.

Glen Rock NJ, according to NJ Transit Police there are over 300 public grade crossings throughout the NJ TRANSIT system. Each, with warning signals and signs to keep you safe. Recently, there has been an unfortunate increase in grade crossing incidents. Accidents happen when pedestrians or drivers disregard warning signals and go around active crossing gates. This is illegal and it is EXTREMELY dangerous. Far too often, an attempt to beat the train, becomes a tragic, yet avoidable mistake. For the safety of yourself, NJ TRANSIT train crews, and passengers; please follow all grade crossing safety signals.

NJ Transit Train Clips Trapped Vehicle at Glen Rock Railroad Crossing

Glen Rock NJ, just days after the Ridgewood blog profiled NJ Transit warning  drivers on the dangers of railroad crossing a driver of a Honda Civic escaped injury when his vehicle was clipped by a Hoboken bound NJ Transit train at the Rock Road, Glen Rock grade crossing on Tuesday morning, 11/24. Glen Rock Police and NJ Transit Police responded to the incident, which was witnessed by a Glen Rock DPW employee. The train did not stop following the collision. NJ Transit Police is handling the investigation. A tow truck removed the vehicle to an impound yard.

Glen Rock Police and Fire Respond to Arson Leaf Fire on Glen Avenue

Glen Rock NJ, according to Glen Rock Police, at 1:27 am on Sunday November 22nd,   Glen Rock Police along with Glen Rock Fire Fighters, responded to a leaf fire on the 200 block of Glen Avenue.  The fire was promptly extinguished without incident.  Video from a nearby home detected two individuals in the area who appeared to have started the fire.  Detectives are currently attempting to view the video for further evidence.  Anyone who may have witnessed this act is asked to contact the Glen Rock Police Department at (201) 652-3800.

Glen Rock NJ,  its that time of year again and the  Glen Rock Police  are reporting on Thursday November 12th at 8 p.m.  a Glen Rock resident on the 100 block of Harding Road reported that during the late afternoon to early evening someone stole a package from their front steps. The package reportedly contained Apple Air Pods shipped from Best Buy via the US Postal Service.

Elderly Ridgewood Man Bit by Dog in Glen Rock

Glen Rock NJ, the Glen Rock Police report that at 11:53 a.m. on Thursday November 12th , patrols were dispatched to the Rock Road Central Business District to investigate a report of a man sitting on a bench bleeding. The victim, a 93-year-old Ridgewood man, stated he was walking on the sidewalk when a dog ran out from a lobby door leading to second floor apartments. The dog then lunged at the man and bit his left wrist. The victim was treated on scene by EMT’s and refused further medical attention. Officers were able to identify the dog and its owner. The matter has been referred to TYCO Animal Control. Incidents of this nature are investigated by Animal Control in cooperation with Bergen County Health Services.

Glen Rock Police Report Vandalism to the Wilde Park Bathrooms Again

Glen Rock NJ, according to the Glen Rock Police Department Saturday night  they received a report of vandalism to the Wilde Park bathrooms again. We believe this damage is fairly recent as the fields have been in use and one of the bathroom dividers had been ripped off the wall and was laying outside and would have been noticed. These repeated incidents are discouraging to the town, the DPW and Recreation Departments who work hard to provide and maintain these facilities for the residents.

Glen Rock High School Teacher Test Positive for COVID ,Glen Rock High School and Middle Schools to Go All Remote Learning as of Monday

Glen Rock NJ, Glen Rock High School will shut down in-person learning for the second time in less than a month after a teacher tested positive for COVID-19.

On Saturday, Superintendent of Schools Brett Charleston in a letter to parents and gradians said both the high and middle schools will close for at least two weeks and shift to remote learning instruction due to the positive test, while fall athletics and other after-school activities will remain unchanged.

Virtual instruction at the schools will run from Nov. 16 to Nov. 25, the letter states.

Glen Rock Police Search For “Hit and Run”

Glen Rock NJ, the Glen Rock Police Department is investigating a hit-and-run motor vehicle accident that occurred on Maple Ave in front of Wilde Park on  November 6th at 11:30pm. It appears that an unknown vehicle was traveling north on Maple Ave and struck a telephone pole which caused the pole to break in half. The vehicle then fled the scene of the accident and continued north on Maple Ave. Anyone with any information on the accident or vehicle involved is asked to contact Traffic Sergeant McGovern at 201-652-3800.
