Two Hospitalized After Hawthorne Crash

Hawthorne NJ, Two (2) vehicles collided at the intersection of Goffle Road and Warburton Avenue, Hawthorne early Tuesday evening, 09/11. Hawthorne Police, Hawthorne Fire Department, and Hawthorne EMS responded to aid at least two (2) individuals who were injured in the crash. One (1) accident victim, suspected of driving under the influence, was expected to be taken into custody by Hawthorne Police following his/her discharge from the hospital. Hawthorne Fire Department personnel assisted in extricating one (1) individual from a 4-door Volkswagen Jetta that sustained heavy front end damage, and attended to a crash related fluid spill. A flatbed tow truck removed both wrecks from the roadway.

Hawthorne NJ, Hawthrone Fire Department personnel rescued an adult female who was trapped in her vehicle after it veered off of the roadway and crashed into a creek at the intersection of Goffle Road and Route 208 northbound, Hawthorne on Tuesday evening, 09/11. Hawthorne Police and Hawthorne EMS also responded to the incident, along with mutual aid fire departments from several neighboring communities. The victim sustained non life threatening injuries and was transported by a Hawthorne BLS ambulance to The Valley Hospital. A heavy duty wrecker winched the vehicle out of its predicament.

Hawthorne NJ, Hawthorne Police, Hawthorne Fire Department Company #4, Hawthorne FD Company #5, and Hawthorne EMS responded to a two (2) vehicle rollover crash at the intersection of Forest and Warburton Avenues on Tuesday afternoon, 07/03. Both drivers were evaluated by Hawthorne EMS; they each refused ambulance transportation to a local hospital. The wrecked vehicles were removed from the scene by two (2) flatbed tow trucks.

Hawthorne NJ, Hawthorne Fire Department was dispatched to stand by at the scene of a severed 2-inch, high pressure natural gas line on Monday afternoon, 07/02. The incident occurred at construction site on Braen Avenue near Sotnick Street, Hawthorne. No illnesses were reported and the leak was capped by PSE&G within one (1) hour of initial dispatch.

Motorcycle Crash in Hawthorne Sends at Least One to St. Joes

Hawthorne NJ, A Jeep Wrangler and a motorcycle collided in front of the Wells Fargo Bank branch located at 456 Lafayette Avenue, Hawthorne late Saturday night, 06/30. Two (2) ambulances and two (2) paramedic teams were dispatched to aid victims of the crash, said to be an adult male and an adult female. CPR was reportedly being administered on the street to one (1) of the crash victims prior to the arrival of emergency medical responders. At least one (1) victim was transported by ambulance to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center. Hawthorne Police requested assistance from the Passaic County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit and the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office to investigate the horrific incident.

Hawthorne NJ, A traffic light at the intersection of Goffle and Rock Roads in Hawthorne was downed by a tractor trailer on Wednesday afternoon, 06/27. Hawthorne Police units responded to provide traffic control at the busy intersection until a Borough of Hawthorne electrician arrived on the scene to assess damages and clear all the debris. No injuries were reported.

Hawthorne NJ, A runaway dump truck in reverse crashed into a single family home on Sunrise Drive in Hawthorne shortly after 12 noon on Monday, 06/18. No injuries were reported related to the impact, but Hawthorne EMS treated at least one (1) civilian and one (1) firefighter at the scene for heat exhaustion. Hawthorne Fire Department was assisted by the Paterson Fire Department USAR team. Hawthorne Police and Hawthorne EMS also responded. Damage to the home was severe in nature. Fire Department crews had to remove a section of the home’s roof in order to free the dump truck so that it could be towed away.

Hawthorne NJ, Members of Hawthorne Fire Department Engine Company #3, Engine Company #4, and Rescue Company #5 assisted in the Tuesday morning, 06/05 rescue of a factory worker who fell 35 feet off of a ladder and landed on the secondary roof of an industrial building located at 1 Loretto Avenue, Hawthorne. The victim was placed on a backboard and then carried three (3) flights down a set of interior stairs in a basket stretcher by Hawthorne EMS, FD, and Police Department personnel. A paramedic team from The Valley Hospital assisted Hawthorne EMS with patient evaluation and treatment. The victim was transported to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center.

Hawthorne NJ, Hawthorne EMS transported one (1) victim to The Valley Hospital following a two (2) vehicle, Friday afternoon, 04/27, crash in front of 1050 Goffle Road, Hawthorne. The victim, an adult female, appeared to have sustained a non life threatening injury. Both vehicles were removed by a flatbed tow truck. Hawthorne Police investigated the incident and provided traffic control at the scene.

Hawthorne NJ, Hawthorne Police and Hawthorne EMS responded to aid the injured adult female driver of a 4-door sedan that crashed into a utility pole on Route 208 northbound, just south of the Goffle Road exit ramp, on Wednesday afternoon, 04/25. The victim was transported by ambulance to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center with non life threatening injuries. A flatbed tow truck removed the heavily damaged vehicle from the roadway. PSE&G’s Electric Division was notified about the damaged utility pole. Traffic on Route 208 northbound was backed up for miles due to the crash.

Hawthorne NJ,  Hawthorne Police, Fire Department , and EMS units responded to assist the adult female driver of a Cadillac SUV that crashed and rolled over onto its roof near 1093 Goffle Road, Hawthorne on Monday morning, 04/09. The crash occurred at approximately 6:20 AM and resulted in the temporary closure of Goffle Road in both directions between Rock Road and Route 208 in Hawthorne. The victim was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital. Her injuries appeared to have been non life threatening. A flatbed tow truck righted and removed the wrecked vehicle from the scene. Hawthorne Fire Engine Company #1 and Rescue Company #5 personnel were on the scene.

Hawthorne NJ, A garbage truck crashed into a wooded area of Goffle Brook Park in Hawthorne after losing its brakes while descending a steep hill on nearby MacFarlan Avenue. The truck’s driver, who was rescued from the wreck by a Hawthorne police officer, sustained serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson. A paramedic team from St. Joseph’s assisted Hawthorne EMTs with patient evaluation and care. Hawthorne Fire Department attended to a crash related fluid leak and remained on standby at the scene until the vehicle was safely removed by two (2) heavy duty tow trucks.

Hawthorne NJ, A Tuesday night, 03/20, rollover crash involving two (2) vehicles on Route 208 northbound near Lincoln Avenue in Hawthorne caused a temporary closure of the highway and resulted in two (2) individuals being transported by ambulance to the hospital. Hawthorne Police, Fire department, and EMS personnel responded and were assisted with traffic control by police officers from Glen Rock Police and Ridgewood Police. A paramedic team from The Valley Hospital assisted Hawthorne EMTs with patient evaluation. Injuries to both victims appeared to have been non life threatening. The rolled over vehicle was removed from the scene by a flatbed tow truck.

Hawthorne NJ Hawthorne Police and Fire Department units responded to the intersection of Lafayette and South Avenues on Friday afternoon, 03/02 after receiving multiple 911 calls regarding a large tree limb that fell on a high tension wire. A street light was also downed in the incident. Portions of Lafayette Avenue and South Avenue were closed pending removal of debris by Hawthorne DPW personnel and the restoration of electric power by PSE&G crews.
