New Brunswick,  NJ,  New Jersey has regained nearly half of the jobs it lost due to the pandemic-driven economic contraction of March and April, but future employment gains will become increasingly difficult, according to a new Rutgers report.

“The United States and New Jersey have made substantial progress in climbing out of the economic chasm that opened beneath our feet in April. But the summer’s extraordinary job growth began to slow in August, with signs that labor market advances are losing momentum,” said report co-author James W. Hughes, University Professor and dean emeritus of the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy at Rutgers University-New Brunswick.

Reader claims amazing bandwidth found everywhere will make NJ unattractive to do business

Optical-Fibers01_Web(2)

“with amazing bandwidth found everywhere, why stay? staff are fleeing NYC and NJ in mass numbers. The 12billion in debt will make NJ unattractive for 12 years. parkway taxes up. cigarette taxes. gas taxes, real estate tax. no incentives to move to nj. murphy is murdering NJ one tax at a time. wall street companies are very clear they are there to be profitable. so if its not attractive economically, and good staff are fine moving, why stay? its just a building and a bunch of dedicated T3s and other connectivity. easy move.”

employment largely reflected temporary hiring for the 2020 Census. Notable job gains also occurred in retail trade, in professional and business services, in leisure and hospitality, and

Trenton NJ, Governor Phil Murphy today signed legislation (S2455), which prohibits lawful presence in the United States as a qualification to obtain a professional or occupational license, provided that the applicant meets all other requirements for licensure. The bill impacts the roughly 500,000 undocumented residents in New Jersey, who will now be eligible for professional licenses such as nursing, counseling and cosmetology.

“New Jersey is stronger when everyone is given the opportunity to contribute and everyone is given a chance to live their American Dream,” said Governor Murphy. “This law sends a simple, powerful message that immigration status can no longer be used as an excuse to discriminate among equally educated, trained, and qualified individuals. As we look toward our shared economic future, we must ensure that no one is left behind and everyone who puts forward the effort can succeed.”
