Ridgewood NJ, even the lefties at Bloomberg News are forced to admit “the omicron variant of Covid-19 may be less likely to land patients in the hospital than the delta strain, according to three studies of preliminary data. Researchers in Scotland suggest the variant is associated with a two-thirds reduction in the risk of hospitalization when compared with the earlier mutation, though omicron was 10 times more likely to infect people who’d already had the virus. There’s more on the accumulating evidence that omicron seems weaker than its predecessors. ”

U.S. Coast Guard : How the Pandemic Affected Boating

ANNAPOLIS MD, the U.S. Coast Guard recently released the 2020 Recreational Boating Statistics, and reports of accidents, fatalities and injuries were significantly up over the prior year. While still under review, the Coast Guard believes that the primary driving factor for the significant increase in deaths was the significant increase in boating activity. The nonprofit BoatUS Foundation for Boating Safety and Clean Water looks at some select data points in the report and offers some lessons for the future, long after America has put the pandemic in the rearview mirror.

US COVID Cases Appear to Have Peaked Around January 6th

In the two weeks since that peak, it has been all downhill with cases, percent positive, emergency room visits, and hospitalizations dropping substantially. Nationally hospitalizations have declined for the 23rd straight day!

Remote Learning Extended At Ridgewood High School

Ridgewood NJ, Due to two recent separate positive COVID-19 cases of unknown origin at Ridgewood High School, the date for the return to in-person instruction has been adjusted. In person instruction will resume on Thursday, December 10, 2020.Ridgewood High School students should not participate in out of school activities during this time of remote learning. The situation is fluid and updated information from the NJDOH may alter this return date.
