Ramsey NJ, authorities are conducting an investigation following a fatality involving a person struck by an NJ Transit train in Ramsey on Wednesday morning. The incident occurred around 9:40 a.m., involving Main Line Train 1109, which had departed from Hoboken at 8:35 a.m. and was en route to Suffern, New York.

NJ TRANSIT LAUNCHES PILOT PROGRAM OF NEW TECHNOLOGY TO PROVIDE DIGITAL TRAVEL INFORMATION TO BUS CUSTOMERS

Ridgewood NJ, NJ TRANSIT is continuing its efforts to make public transit more accessible and responsive with the launch of a pilot program of NaviLens technology in New Brunswick.  The NaviLens technology uses special QR-style codes to enable customers to use their smart devices at NJ TRANSIT bus stops to get a host of service information and assistance in the palm of their hands. NaviLens integrates NJ TRANSIT data in real-time so customers can determine when the next bus will arrive at their location.  The technology also provides visually impaired customers with directional wayfinding and audio information.  The color coded QR-style codes can be read by devices 12 times farther away than traditional QR codes so visually impaired customers don’t need to know the exact placement of the signage at the bus stop.

NJ Board of Public Utilities Awards NJ TRANSIT $1.4 Million to Utilize Towards the Electrification of Non-Revenue Fleet Vehicles

Ridgewood NJ, The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) has awarded a grant of $1.4 million to NJ TRANSIT that will be used to expand the agency’s non-revenue fleet of electric vehicles, and provide funding for the necessary charging infrastructure. NJ TRANSIT successfully secured 25% of the $5.7 million available in the NJBPU’s Clean Fleet EV Incentive Program, which is part of an overall $12.7 million in awarded grant funding for Fiscal Year 2023 from three of the NJBPU’s electric vehicle (EV) and charging infrastructure incentive programs.

Newark NJ, New Jersey Transit Police Outreach Officers met a stranded family with a baby. The family was far from home in a time of need. Their destination was 2,000+ miles away; and they were at Newark Penn Station. Lacking shelter, funds for travel and food, the family was in a rough spot.⁣

Hoboken NJ, on Wednesday, October 25th, New Jersey Transit Police Officers Brian Rea, Joseph Ragazzo, and Randy Vargas were on patrol at Hoboken Terminal. The officers were on the main concourse when they heard calls for help from the main waiting room. They entered the waiting room and observed a suspect wielding a large camping style axe. The suspect had the axe in hand and was aggressively advancing towards a fleeing man. ⁣⁣

Ridgewood NJ, while NJ Transit is forecasting it will face back-to-back fiscal cliffs in 2025 and 2026, with the larger deficit expected to be around $1 billion. The union representing NJ Transit’s locomotive engineers  , pointed to a recent 25-year lease the agency signed for a new headquarters space that was more expensive than fixing up its current building and other bids the agency received.

United Railroad Historical Society of NJ to Operate Special Excursion Train September 30th for NJ Transit Rail’s 40th Anniversary

NEWARK, NJ – Calling all rail history lovers! NJ TRANSIT is planning a fun-filled historic rail weekend September 30 – October 1.  To kick off the events, NJ TRANSIT and The United Railroad Historical Society of NJ are partnering to operate a special excursion train titled the “40th Anniversary Express” in honor of NJ TRANSIT Rail Operations’ 40th year of public service.  Riders can purchase a ticket to travel down memory lane on the Northeast Corridor and North Jersey Coast Lines in a special train with historic and conventional equipment, recreate the “South Amboy engine change” and ride the Bay Head loop track in a unique railroad experience.  Then, on October 1, all members of the public are invited to historic Hoboken Terminal for a special display of NJ TRANSIT’s heritage decorated locomotives.

Ridgewood NJ, the COVID-19 pandemic changed the dynamics of workplaces around the globe. The adaptation to remote work has also been advantageous for many employees. Parents have found it easier to balance familial responsibilities, and others have invested in home office setups or relocated further from their workplaces. However, for the past three years, tens of millions of office workers have navigated through an ever-evolving landscape of working from home and intermittent attempts to return to the office. However, a recent survey conducted by Authority Hacker throws light on employees’ perspectives on returning to the office, showing that the majority are reluctant to give up the flexibility they have grown accustomed to.
