Ridgewood NJ, NJDOL’s Division of Wage and Hour and Contract Compliance has the authority to immediately halt work at any public or private worksite – both construction and non-construction – when an investigation finds evidence an employer has violated state wage, benefit or tax laws. Examples include: misclassifying employees as independent contractors; not having appropriate workers’ compensation insurance; failing to pay prevailing wage or overtime; or paying workers partially, late, or off the books.

Residential Fire Quickly Extinguished by Paramus Fire Fighters

Paramus NJ, Prof. Loh has been doing this free public math talk tour since 2021 and this year, his topic will focus on “How to survive the ChatGPT invasion.” He will be discussing his experience transitioning from the ivory tower of academia into the practical mess of the real world, as well as educational strategies that build relevant skills for surviving the new era of Generative AI, such as ChatGPT. Prof, Po-Shen Loh is a math professor at Carnegie Mellon University and the national coach of the USA International Mathematical Olympiad team. He will be visiting the Ridgewood area on Tue, May 9 to give a free public math talk.

Ridgewood NJ, National Small Business Week is approaching and many employers still struggling to hire new workers, the personal-finance website WalletHub today released its report on 2023’s Best Small Cities to Start a Business. No surprise the Village of Ridgewood with it’s very high costs came in 7th worst in the entire country at number 1328 (out of 1334) . In overall business environment the Village placed 955 and in Business costs 1310 .

Paramus NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of NAJE BRABSON (DOB: 5/04/2004; single; unemployed) of 172 Lawrence Place, Paterson, NJ on charges of distribution of controlled dangerous substances and resisting arrest. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love.

Truck Crash Takes Out Utility Pole and Closes Paramus Road

Paramus NJ, Paramus Road in Paramus was closed in both directions between West Ridgewood Avenue and West Midland Avenue for an extended period on Monday, 03/27. The closure was resultant from a crash in which a pickup truck severed a utility pole across from the Paramus Food Center at approximately 0830 hours. The pickup truck’s driver was uninjured; however, his truck was totaled and removed from the scene by a flatbed tow truck. Paramus Police responded along with crews from PSE&G’s Electric Division.

Paramus Law Enforcement Officer Graduates from FBI National Academy

Paramus NJ, Paramus Police Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg announced that Lieutenant Brian P. McGovern has graduated as a member of the 285th session of the FBI National Academy. The graduation took place at the National Academy in Quantico, Virginia on March 16th, 2023. Lt. McGovern is the fourth officer in department history to complete this prestigious program. Nationally, fewer than one percent of officers have the opportunity to attend the program.
