Ridgewood Art Institute Exhibition Moved to the Internet

Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood Art  Institute still stands empty, after 3 months. This beautiful building was originally a carriage house, built during the time of Lincoln’s Presidency. If those walls could speak, the amazing stories they would be able to tell. The building was gifted to RAI, by the owners of the home directly across the street. For 85 years it has been a veritable sanctuary to those committed to the pursuit of excellence in creating Art, more specifically the study of Classic Realism for both children and adults. Our banner “Art Show Today” has greeted many new visitors, who have subsequently become Members, Patrons and Family.

Ridgewood NJ, Theresa Troise Heidel did a watercolor demonstration today, at the Ridgewood Art Institute following the Annual Members Meeting. Theresa is primarily a Plein Air Painter, but for this demo she worked from a photo and value sketches she had done on location. One of the most valuable perks of being an RAI Member, is what we can learn from each other as an Art Community.

Ridgewood NJ, Tomorrow is the LAST day to create your “wish list”, Ridgewood Art Institute Gala Drawing is Friday.

Becoming a Sponsor helps to support The Ridgewood Art Institute, a non profit organization dedicated to the perpetuation of Classical Realism in today’s world. The Institute has graced our community with some of the finest instruction in a variety of mediums, as well as hosting events where artists are welcome to exhibit their work. A gift to the Art Institute is a gift to the community. There is still time to become a Sponsor before our Gala Drawing on May 3rd. $275 is the cost of Sponsorship. At the end of the evening, all Sponsors will be the happy recipient of a beautifully framed piece of artwork. All artwork has been graciously donated by members and all proceeds directly benefit The Ridgewood Art Institute.

Ridgewood NJ, Plein Air painting is about leaving the four walls of your studio behind and experiencing painting and drawing in the landscape. The practice goes back for centuries but was truly made into an art form by the French Impressionists.

Please join us for our first art show to exclusively feature Plein Air sketches by our members. All pieces in this show will have been done while on location, with no further reworking done in studio. The results reflect a freshness and immediacy that can only be achieved by working in this manner.

Classes are offered on an open enrollment basis, and can be joined at anytime.

We welcome you to visit us and view our Annual Members’ Holiday Show and Sale, usually featuring over 150 pieces of beautiful artwork. In addition, this year we are also including a Small Works Fundraising Exhibition with pieces priced at $150, all proceeds benefit The Ridgewood Art Institute.

What better way to kick off the Holiday Season, than to meet our artists and other art enthusiasts in a festive setting? Please join us for our opening reception on Sunday, November 19th, 2017 from 1-4 pm. Work will be on view daily from 11am-3pm till December 24th, 2017.

Art makes a unique gift that can be treasured for a lifetime. Also, your gift helps support this fine institution, which is a gift to so many.

(if desired) your plein air paintings from 4-6.

Ridgewood NJ, The Ridgewood Art Institute’s 58th Annual Young People’s Scholarship Exhibition: Call For Entries
Do you know a Young Aspiring Artist between the ages of 7 and 17? What a perfect opportunity to introduce them to the Ridgewood Art Institute Their work will be hung in our beautiful galleries where family members and friends can view the work at our Opening Reception, where awards will be also be announced. Original artwork, done either independently or at school is welcome. Any size is acceptable, however all artwork must be framed, WIRED and ready to hang. NO computer generated or 3-dimensional artwork will be accepted. Student members of the Ridgewood Art Institute may enter up to two pieces, all others may enter one. Entries must be delivered to the Ridgewood Art Institute on Saturday May 20th between the hours of 11am and 4pm.The following information must be printed on the back of the artwork. Name,Title, Age, Address, Contact Number, School and Grade.In addition you will be required to fill out an empty form on receiving day.


Opening Reception and Awards Ceremony
Sunday, June 4th, 2017 2-4pm
Artwork available for viewing through Friday, June 16th, 2017
Pickup:Saturday, June 17th, 2017 11am-4pm
