Paramus NJ, Paramus Police closed Route 17 in both directions between Ridgewood and Linwood Avenue for several hours on Saturday morning due to an accident, when a pedestrian was struck and killed crossing the highway . As of 12:30 p.m., all lanes were reopened after being closed since 6:30 a.m.
Paramus NJ, Paramus Police report they have been experiencing numerous thefts from vehicles during the overnight hours in the neighborhoods East and West of Forest Ave between Midland Ave and Ridgewood Ave. Most of the incidents are occurring between 2:00 am hours and 6:30 am. In most of the reported incidents there is one subject observed wearing all dark clothing, with his/her face covered, carrying a satchel across his body and possibly black Nike sneakers with white accent. Paramus NJ, A busy 0700 hour Black Friday for Paramus PD as they investigated two (2) separate MVAs that were reported 15 minutes apart, and occurred within 500 feet of one another. 1) The adult male driver of a red SUV sustained non life threatening injuries after slamming into a pole on Glen Avenue near Route 17 southbound, Paramus. He was transported by ambulance to a local hospital. 2) No injuries were reported after a 4-door sedan overshot the exit ramp of Route 17 northbound at Ridgewood Avenue westbound, Paramus. Flatbed tow trucks were called to removed both wrecks from the roadway.
Ridgewood NJ, A smoking vehicle that was involved in a rear end crash on East Ridgewood Avenue near Kenilworth Road resulted in the precautionary dispatch of Ridgewood FD units on Friday afternoon, 03/31. Steam leaking from a smashed radiator was determined to be the actual culprit and FD units packed up and returned to their headquarters right after disconnecting the vehicle’s battery. Ridgewood PD issued one (1) summons in connection with the crash and a flatbed tow truck removed the wrecked vehicle from the roadway. Traffic on westbound East Ridgewood Avenue was detoured for about 30 minutes due to the crash. No injuries were reported in the incident.

Ridgewood NJ, The driver and passenger of a Ford Explorer were transported by ambulance to The Valley Hospital with non-life threatening injuries following a Sunday afternoon, 01/03 collision with a Ford Edge at the intersection of East Ridgewood and North Pleasant Avenues, Ridgewood. RIdgewood PD, EMS, and FD personnel responded to the 1 PM incident.
Both vehicles were removed from the scene by separate flatbed tow trucks. The Explorer appeared to have broadsided the Edge in the middle of the intersection. The accident remains under investigation by Ridgewood PD.
