Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood Crew team participated in the 10th Annual Ironmen Erg Classic hosted by Don Bosco Prep High School in Ramsey on January 21, 2023. The event attracted 22 clubs. Ridgewood Crew had 64 entries, second only to Montclair High School.
Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood alum and former Ridgewood Maroons Kicker Younghoe Koo was named NFL special teams player of the month for December and January. This was Koo’s second player of the month honor. He joins Matt Ryan, Morten Andersen and Matt Bryant as Falcons to earn their respective awards twice. Koo converted all 12 of his field goal attempts over the last five Falcons games, including one from 50-plus yards and he hit the game-winner as time expired to beat the Arizona Cardinals
Ridgewood NJ, the RHS TV Club and RHS Recording Studio are excited to release the first episode of our new series, In the Studio. Based off of the popular “Tiny Desk Concert” series by NPR, the goal of the In the Studio series is to feature the variety of musicians and ensembles at Ridgewood High School in all genres of music. Both the TV Club and Recording Studio Club worked behind the scenes to produce this show and are excited to share their work.
Ridgewood NJ, Senior Cammi Quirk was named American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Honorable Mention ALL-AMERICAN. The University of Scranton commit recently capped her Ridgewood Volleyball season with the career record for assists, amassing a total of 1267.
Ridgewood NJ, on November 19th, Ridgewood High School hosted the First Tech Challenge League Meet, a competitive robotics competition. The RHS team played welcomed 24 teams from across the region. Each team consisting of up to 15 students must design, build and operate a robot.
Ridgewood NJ, on December 7th, Robin Ha, author of the graphic memoir Almost American Girl, visited Ridgewood High School and shared her time and talents with students and staff. Ms. Ha presented two hands-on Memoir Comics Workshops, each attended by over 250 students! She joined members of the Asian Festival Club to give a more intimate lunchtime talk. Ms. Ha offered strategies for improving one’s writing and drawing skills, engaged the audience with amusing and poignant stories from her past, and brought out the inner artist in all who attended. When asked how we become writers, Ms. Ha responded, “You have to write a lot!” Many thanks to the RHS Home and School Association for their generous sponsorship of this event.

Ridgewood NJ, Jingle Strings was recently filmed in the RHS Media Lab! In this collaboration between the RHS Orchestra, RHS Recording Studio, and RHS TV Club, all of the new Duffield STEAM Initiative equipment was used. Especially useful for this shoot was the remote top camera, which enabled them to get shots of musicians not able to be seen by the studio cameras
Ridgewood NJ, November 11th at 11:00 a.m. in Memorial Park at Van Neste Square , the American Legion Post 53 will be hosting a Veterans Day service. All are invited to attend, to honor those who have served in the Armed Services to protect our freedom.
Ridgewood NJ, the New York Giants and Gatorade have selected Mr. Chuck Johnson of Ridgewood High School as the Lou Rettino High School Coach of the Weekfor Week 9 of the 2022 season. Coach Chuck Johnson earned his 300th victory on Friday night. He is the third coach in North Jersey history to win 300 games – joining Tony Karcich and Greg Toal – and the first to accomplish that feat while coaching exclusively at public schools. Johnson’s 44-year career includes six seasons at Bogota from 1978-83, where he went 35-19-1, and 1984 to the present at Ridgewood, where he is 265-125-1; his career record amounts to 300-144-2 overall. Johnson is now six wins short of the most wins by a North Jersey coach at one school – a record presently held by Nick DelCalzo of Hasbrouck Heights at 270 wins.
Ridgewood NJ, over the last couple of years the Ridgewood vs Montclair high school football rivalry has heated up . Unfortunately for the Maroons, pregame celebrations honoring Ridgewood High School Seniors were not enough to overcome the Montclair Mounties defense .
Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood High School is proud to announce the names of the four students who were named National Merit Scholarship Competition Semifinalists. Out of the approximately 1.5 million students who took the PSAT exam last year, nearly 16,000 semifinalists were named nationally. Congratulations Chloe Cho (not pictured), Ethan Holden, Kate Minn, and Lucas Wang!

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood High School Marching Band hosted the 12th Annual 7/8 Grade Marching Band night at Ridgewood High School and it can only be described as a HUGE success! 85 7/8 graders who came out to the event .
